Has any one got contact with any of the Glendinning drivers i.e. Shotley Bridge Pity Me and any of the other southern based ones,
What are they doing now, are any still driving?
I believe that the Johnson brothers have all passed away to the big garage in the sky

Sadly I believe quite a few of the old timers have passed away now, but alot are still working on the cars. There is an annual get together every year in Blackhill, usually around Xmas time. Always sees a decent turnout.

Drove a tipper for a bloke based on Bowburn Ind Est was running the whole fleet on kerra or Irish Diesel, name of Austin. Most of his drivers seemed to belong Consett. There was a few ex car transporter drivers worked for him, don’t what firm they’d worked for but they all had black overalls. There was only me and a kid called Tufty on tippers the rest were all on container work.

Apart from Flapper, there all retired now. Robbo and Bob E moved to Spain, Bob may be back now, not sure. Last time I spoke to Gordon Pullman he was planning on upping sticks and moving to Thailand!
Any other Shotley drivers we have not mentioned?

Trying to remember the name of a Glenny’s transporter driver who lived just along the street from me at Moorside Consett he was only young when he died of cancer this would have been prior to 1980 when i was at Cookies BRS the nickname Jud seems to ring a bell he used to pull up at the gate of my place for a bit of crack knowing i’d been a Glenny driver nice lad.
