Great stuff DEANB,Thanks for posting them, I used to get quite a bit of tipper work from them at their Thornbrough quarry , Also at Bishop Middleham, They were a decent firm to work with and allways paid on the dot, Regards Larry.

Good honest ■■■■■■■■ folk Larry, my parents exchanged Christmas cards for years with Billy and Madge Thompson from the start of their married life, they all used to knock about together as young folk attending village dances here in the Wigton Aspatria area. I never met them but heard lots about them before they settled in Prudhoe . Great to know of their success from humble beginnings. a few miles from my home.
Thanks to Dean B for posting.
Cheers, Leyland 600.

No worries glad you enjoyed it.

We did both quarry and site work for Thompsons and as mentioned they were a solid honest company to work with and they had a good bunch of lads working for them.
I remember seeing that Cat dozer working in Bishop Middleham Quarry, not sure if it was D10 or D11 but it had the biggest ripper blade I have ever seen.

The Eldon Square shopping centre in Newcastle was extended a few years ago and Thompsons did the demolition to make way for the new building. Because it was the middle of the town they were asked to keep the dust down as much as possible, no problem, they bought an ex airport fire engine with a big snorkel on the top and it was stationed in the middle of the site to water bomb the whole place when neccessary.
