Hi Forster, Great stuff thanks for posting them, I new Ronnie in the 50s He had KRM.■■?, Then in later years He worked a Shorties, & Hornes of Bishop Aukland, We used to stay at The Salvation Army Hostel at Glasgow , Then usualy meet up in Jacks Cafe in Mcalpine Street, Tosh used to have control of return traffic in those days, Anchor Chains was a very popular load for Sunderland Ship Yards, Regards Larry.
Hi Larry, you are correct, Ronnie had KRM 917, ex. Henderson of Alston. The picture shows it looking rather work weary, probably loaded from Jarrow Tube Works.
E.Robsons Foden loaded with old tyres. These were collected from local bus depot’s, Byker, Gateshead , Northern General at Chester-Le-St, Consett, and Sunderland District, (SDO). at Philidelphia. Thse were known as mileage covers, and went to Fort Dunlop, Birmingham, for remoulding. They were stacked in two piles of twelve, with the thirteenth on top straddling the two , as a binder. The return load was of new tyres of various sizes for the Dunlop depot. at Brandling Park, Jesmond.

Hi Larry, I don’t know who the driver was, but as I took this picture at Throckley, that may give you a clue. It was parked next to the old brickworks, it was a regular ■■■■■■■■■■■■ , the Smiles Bedford tipper in my previous post was also there, along with tippers from John T Coxon, E.Hewitson, Concrete Products (Walker Bros.) and LSM.

Can you just send him the link to the site so that he can download the photos himself (and also read the text)? You don’t need to have an account or be logged in just to read this topic. You’ll need to remind him to go to the end of the thread if he doesn’t fancy reading 372 pages!

Hi Larry, Have sent you a PM re. the Smiles pictures.
Its a lot quicker and simpler if you just right click on the photo and save the image to your PC, they sometimes come out larger so you can adjust the size to how you want it. Franky.

Thanks, Frankydobo, Think I will have to use laptop (using tablet at moment) and perhaps get better results with pictures.
