That’s a great picture Franky, When Newcastle Corporation were supposed to keep the roads clear, They must have slept in that day
,Regards Larry.
franky, that photo of westgate hill brought some memories back dickmans pie shop was on the left, where that road sign is, the exit from thomas bell {bero flour} was on the right just a bit further down, we had to back up the lane {villa place} with the wagon&drag to load, you couldn’t get in off rutherford street because of the camber of the road and archway into the factory,
great job till ranks took the over then it went downhill fast,Inverness was a 5 day job, happy days
Ha aye Jim that was when every Winter we had snow and didn’t even think about it, it makes national headlines now! Loved a Dickman’s Pie, doubt I would suffer if I had one now though. Another couple of old pics, that little Trader artic seems to have a canny handball load to shift. Franky.
Hi Franky, good photo of the Tyne Bridge with MV Bessie Surtees heading downriver with power station ash from the Stella power stations. I have spent many hours waiting to unload at the Tyne Tees Shipping Co sheds in the forground back in the 1960s. I wonder what the ship was loading across the river as wagons appear to be tipping on to the Quay.
Cheers, Leyland 600.

Hi Leyland 600", IIRC, It would have been loading Lime from the ICI Works at Prudhoe, Shorts Cargo Handling had the job, The tippers had to reverse up a ramp and tip onto a belt Etc, Regards Larry.

Hi Oily, Billy Thompson was brought up near Aspatria I believe and married a girl from a farm near Wigton who was a great friend and schoolfriend of my mother as young women attending local village hall dances etc, Christmas cards between the two women continued for many years.
Cheers Leyland 600.
Thanks Lawrence, I remember seeing the ramp parked on the quay when I drove along there which was quite frequent in the 1960s to deliver to the various sheds along the quay, 22 shed in particular then backloading from Spillers or Ranks.
Cheers, Leyland 600.
Stuck behind my uncle’s F89 are a couple of well known but long gone John Dee,s MAN,s in their distinctive bright yellow colours, think this is on one of the drags over the A66 before a lot of it was made up to dual carriageway.
