Hi John, IIRC The slag used to go to Blaydon Burn, Taylor Plant comes to mind Im sure they used to store it there, Also a firm in Burn Lane Hexham called Bell ■■, used to store It, This was an awkward tip because it was a low building it took ages to get the load off,Regards Larry.
yes larry when i did it it went to taylors and the fitters had to work doing repairs beside it must of been a nightmare for them also lad who knackered foden for ken worked for taylors cannot remember his name it was not long after that that i went to d&a on the dafs what a difference proper sleeper cab and two bunks john
Aye John a sleeper cab eh, I remember seeing a couple of D/As motors at the Alcan Plant on Anglesey when I used to load back off Theo James with Breeze for Lynemouth 1975 Era, There was allways plenty of work in those good old days & the money was good, Regards Larry.
The AEC looks to be near St Andrews St fruit market , its driver is taking a terrible life threatening risk standing on top of the load like that without a safety harness on attached to the nearest lamp post or trolleybus pole and no hi vis jacket to match the trolleybuses.
The good old days delivering fruit and vegetables circa 1965 I guess. The S&N ERF is an early LV cabbed model there again early 60s.
Cheers, Leyland 600.

Hi “Leyland600” The location IIRC is Nelson Street entrance to the Grainger Market, These are great photos , They bring back some memorys from The Good Old Days, Regards Larry.
I remember the very clean Foden 8 wheelers travelling the A 683 from Lancaster , through Sedbergh , towards Brough to join the A 66. This was in the 1960s , before the opening of the M 6 north of Carnforth . Those Fodens would be parked in early afternoons at Devils Bridge , Kirkby Lonsdale , while the drivers had a brew from the mobile snack bar .
Hi servo, Those are good photos of Harrisons Fodens, I can just vaguely remember the S21 Mickey Mouse ones I was running one at the same time but I can remember their later S39 cabbed models which used to come into Fodens depot at Carleton, Carlisle in the late 1960s The chap who now owns the ERF I did up for preservation in 2005 restored Harrisons SUP 71E after buying it from Sam Ellicock of Aberdeen with whom it saw service after being bought from Harrisons. It later went on to be modelled by Corgi or EFE after it was sold to someone down in Kent. The wagon still exists and in service I believe with Carters Fairgrounds in south west England
Cheers, Leyland 600
I remember a genuine proffesional driver who worked for Direct T/sport of Shildon, named Norman,he drove a Scammel Crusader, always doing the s/west runs, wen i drove for Harris & Miners of Bovey Tracey,Devon he backloaded off us all the time, the last time i was speaking to norman was at cabberboard in stirling, wen he was driving for Shaw"s transport of spennymoor,i think!! Norman Croad,Torquay…
