I have just read in the local paper that former haulier Adam Wilkinson who operated APW Haulage of Consett was sadly killed in a car accident last monday night, according to the paper he was a passenger in a car that was being pursued by the police and it crashed into a lampost on ebchester bank next to springhouse lane, he was confirmed dead at the scene the driver is in hospital with minor injuries. R.I.P. Adam, condolences to the family. regards prattman.
Seems like he was up to no good and was trying to avoid stopping for the Police or at least the guy driving was so hardly an accident, maybe he should have stuck to transport!

Hiya,
Ang my darling if you want “Waldo” hugged and kissed he’s in ward 36 at the RVI
you nip along and do it yourself I’ve managed to get from puberty to age 78 and
never kissed or hugged another fellah and I’m sure not starting now, somehow I
don’t think he’d appreciate it, but I’ll forward your best wishes on my next visit.
thanks harry, long retired.

This ERF Was new in 1935, Do you recall anyt of the drivers that worked there in the 50/60s, The late Walter Boyd, A one knicknamed Darkey ? He had one of the Commer 2 Strokes, Plus a few more that I cant remember their names, . They used to run to Liverpool a lot with old baled rags & Then look for their own return loads back home, Happy Days long gone, Regards Larry.

Ive just remembered his name He was called Podge, A knickname perhaps, ■■, But do any of you old drivers that are fortunate to be still about likemyself , He had a Commer 2 Stroke 4 wheeler at this period of time Im referring to remember him, He was a real canny lad, But having said this all the drivers from this era were great to get along with, When every one mucked in and helped one and other, Great times IMO, Regards Larry.
Can anyone remember when Tony Van Hee had the yard/garage at the bottom of Beacon Lough bank ■■
Vaguely, Tyneside, But I do remember then having a yard at Wallsend, When it was Smith & Van Hee, & their motors were painted red in those days, IIRC, It would be in the 60s when the livery changed to Brown & Yellow & of course the Van Hee name only, Im sure they took a firm over called Gowlands Transport who at that time ran a mixed fleet in Blue livery, from Kells Lane Area I think, Regards Larry.
Yes Larry
It was the late sixties / early seventies. The yard was next to the Victoria pub. The pub was on the corner of Kells Lane and Beacon Lough Road and the yard was just above the pub.
Gateshead council built a block of old people’s sheltered accommodation on the land in the late seventies, they have recently been developed into private " apartments"
Anybody have any pics of Dial All Roads old motors?? Chris.
