Come from Poland going to Siemens at Shields Road, Bit of a tight fit but made it through,Aye its parked here at momment, driver flew back to Poland while work being done on rotor, flying back when ready to collect
Passed it parked up the other day in the factory I guessed that was the case. I could have repaired the Rotor then drove it back to Poland. I served my time at Parsons as an Armature Winder, then had a career change and took up driving Low loaders… honest ha ha

Started my apprenticeship in 1974. Worked in O bay, C bay, and the copper shop. Ended up in the insulting shop at Longbenton works. I always had a passion for driving so I got my Class one when I was 22 and left Parsons for a life on the road. (BIG MISTAKE) I have given up the driving now but still a bit of a truck spotter (sad I know). My son is at Siemens he works in NDT following the family tradition at Parsons
Does Parson’s Heaton works still exist toonheed ? Last time I was there was in 1965 with a couple of loads of crane test weights from Cowans’s Sheldon, the Carlisle cranemakers. A slow job lifting them off with those super low geared overhead cranes.
Cheers, Leyland 600

Yes Leyland600 the factory is still there but taken over by Siemens a long time ago. It is only a fraction of the size it used to be but still going. Used to see some huge loads leave the factory and it was always on a Friday at finishing time and we could never get home…
