ONCE WORKED WITH SALKELD,S NO 1 DRIVER MANY YEARS AGO /NORMAN JUST CAN,T REMEBER HIS SECOND NAME .LAST TIME I SAW HIM HE WAS AT GARY REEVES I THINK HE ENDED UP IN THE OFFICE .HE WAS VERY GOOD MATES WITH A LAD CALLED JOE GRAHAM R.I.P. I THINK THEY LIVED OVER MEADOWFIELD WAY 2 CANNY LADS.

I know a lad from Castleside who worked for Salky, Marshall Eglin , He also worked for Siddle Cook, Regards Larry.

Think I drove that 4 wheeler Albion of Jr`s when I did a few weeks for them when i first got my HGV1 1974

No Chris not truckfest, I was talking to Stuart Ritchie earlier today, he was heading for Llandudno, hope I’ve spelt it right :unamused: :unamused: regards Kevmac 47.

thanks for the comments Larry, will post more salkelds later for the time being heres more Glendinnings, also Gallachers first lorries and Cookies from the late sixties when I used to go to their depot as a teenager at first taking photos then later on riding shotgun with some of the drivers on local deliveries this is how I spent my weekends and school holidays. Marshall also worked for my dad. He came up to me at Barney truck show to introduce himself. I put him in touch with my dad, and they have spoken a few times. He’s still fit and well.

Did Marshall Eglin work for Robson’s Border Transport from the Consett Depot in the mid to late 80’s at all, just I seem to recognise the name and I’m sure he used to buy his cars at the Rover garage in Halt whistle around that time when I worked there?

First met Freddie when he drove a Big J 6wheeler tipper for Frank Dodds of Bedlington doing Fly Ash out of Cambios power station to Coast road & Spine road in about 1967-1968. Had many good nights out down the road with Fred,He was a good servant to Fergusons Transport over the many years he worked there.Here is a photo of Fred and his pal Tommy Dodds.[RIP]

I remember Fred very well, I haven’t seen him for donkeys years!!! That shot of the 1418 brings back memories of my “hitlers revenge”. MTN835R !!! Seven years driving that pill. Good to know Fred’s still around, Get him to the next “do” Davey. Regards Kev.
