Do any of you North East lads remember a lad called Charlie Pejkert [Cheepei Cheepie Charlie] Was his handle, He was a great bloke,I first met him in the 50s when he was a tyre fitter aay Gorrills on Corporation Street in the Toon, He then moved on to Tyre Services in Rothbury Terrace Heaton, & then he was given the Sales Mangers Job, I can tell you this bloke could seel sand to the Arabs , A good pal of mine who still runs wagons up in Perth used to get his tyres off Charlie, I attended his Funeral to-day along with my pal Arthur Lowdon who was also one of Charlies Custumers like myself, He got to 86 , & His family gave him a good send off, RIP Charlie, Regards Larry, & Arthur Lowdon.
Larry, there’s a letter in May’s Heritage Commercial, ( it’s more a life story really) he’s from Tyneside but he’s worked all over the country, he’s had more jobs than the “fugitive”. I can’t say I know him but our paths must have crossed somewhere. As his name is in print I think it must be ok to repeat it here. Robin W Dipper now living in Cramlinton. (Marsden Freights, Transways and Waugh’s are just a taste of his career). Regards Kev.
Thanks Kev, The name dosnt ring any bells but I will get the mag & have a read it may refresh my failing memory, I nearly forgot to re-stock my whiskey stash, Oh dear this getting old thing has got to be treat with caution & great thought to avoid calamities Eh, Regards Larry.

the regular driver of this beauty was George but I had the pleasure of tramping with this motor a few times and enjoyed every minute behind the wheel. it went like a train and drove like a car. The pies weren’t to bad either.

Its a shame In the early 90s when the distribution site for tindales was on the north side of scotswood bridge they had 7 artics 1 rigid running round the country and 1 artic 1 rigid doing locals which also ran between burnopfield and scotswood. you still cant beat an oval tindale pie from the chippy
