Crowbar are you at the workshop 2 morrow ? I have the 1931 Roadway handy for you, The Curries yard we talked about on the Close Next to Jackey Snees place , would have been Mansion House Wharf in those days, Baxters had it in the earley 60s for storage Rented out to Proctor & Gamble who in fact for a time ran a night shift when production was very busy at their City Rd Factory, Regards Larry.
Hi Bewick, not exactly flying in an Albion Chieftain at 38 mph flat out empty but at least they did the round trip of 270 miles on 14 gallons of diesel at about 4 shillings a gallon and a rate in the region of 30 bob a ton. The LAD Comet I drove was capable of just short of 80 mph on a good piece of road but early one frosty morning when the road was quiet over Stainmoor I had it wound up when I had to suddeny touch the brakes, everything went quiet and the back end started to swing from side to side, a certain tightening up of my nether regions brought the speed down to about 25 to 30 mph all the way to Scotch Corner as the road was like glass.
Cheers Leyland 600

Happy days Mark, Collinsons used to work out of Wrights biscuits, but had closed before I started. It then reopened as a dog biscuit factory & we had most of the work out of there, you could have 5or 6 shops in little towns in Somerset devon cornwall & maybe 12 pallets for Sainsbury, pain in the arse folding sheets back & having to leave the dripper on each drop.used to look at you like you were from another planet pulling up outside the shops with a 40ft flat, but I did enjoy the work
haha kenny, i bet they did , did you get many freebies
