This is a blast from the past marcus The Wallaw Cinema at Blyth, I used to go there in the 50s when staying at Blyth with friends of my parents. Was it on Union St ? I can see the place in my mind there was also the Essoldo in the next street running parallel.
Cheers Leyland 600

Sorry Kevmac47. It is not the building you are thinking of. Too many houses in the background and there was never a chimney there. There is another similar building further up the line between Eighton Banks and Springwell but I don’t think it is that one either. It could possibly be the colliery yard at Springwell or the engine shed at the bottom of the Leam Lane below Wrekenton.
hi leyland600
according to the lad that gave me the photo it was on union street and it closed its doors sometime in 2000 , he said their was 3 main cinemas around blyth and the one you mentioned the essoldo . he did not know who the van belonged too.

mark
tyneside,
the lad that gave me the pic was not certain but he seemed to think it was a engine shed, the only other info he had was it was in gateshead.

Hi All,
Not sure if any of you remember me but I worked for J.R.Adams, CPS,Glennys,Fresh Freight and Christie Malcolms etc.
I’m not driving anymore cos I work at the brewery in Tadcaster (exporting Broon Ale to America) and I hate it.
I’ve been looking through these posts now for the last week and it’s bringing some fantastic memories back and not to mention a few faces (good times indeed)
If it helps you out at all, I used to have a guitar stuck to the front of my grill when I was at Jakeys…
Would I be correct in saying PEANUT, ? I was on traction work when you were working there,& my son was in the fitting shop at that time, Regards Larry.

Oh yes, I was past their depot at Cramlington last week, they seem to have quite a few motors, Regards Larry.
Yes that’s right Larry, “Peanut,” I still get called that from my neighbour (Tania) who used to go into Wetherby on a Thursday night.
The real name is Grahame Hedley for the record.
Anyway, I may be back on the road soon as I took my CPC a while back and I’m looking to put a truck on the road and pull containers.
Too many years on the road and need to get out of the brewery.
