They are indeed still going
Thats who I work for, have done for about 6 years now.
At the minute we have 108 vehicles of varying size and capabilities.
three vans, about 25 7.5tonners, roughly 40-50 class 2’s, 20ish of which have
cranes on, and the rest are artics.
Convoy’s, the one’s that were from Deptford, moved to Chatham docks A while back.
The only 1 I know of at the minute still operating from Deptford, Bermondsey area is Stan Robinson. They move Timber.

Both look like SGH Transport to me, and you won’t find any bomb sites in Wapping these days!!
The above F88,s were owned by Terry Creasey and driven by me.The early J reg was origenally owned by Eddie Morgen from hainault,Terry bought it of him when it was nearly new.It was exchange for the 290 F88 which came new from duffields of norwich. The 290 was on contract to bleckmans a dutch hanging garment company from oldenzaal up near the danacamp german border.I used to do 3 trips a week every week with this lorry then it made way for a left hand drive 140 scania. The photo of the 290 was taken in wapping high street 1977 out side S J Selfes yard who i work for now.Terry ran under the name SGH transport an had a yard in wapping high street.
The photo of the 111 and the 140 were taken in guildway homes in guilford,we were both picking up loads for algiers. We dropped the trailers off in marseile an ran back solo. The 111 was driven by Brian Powers who now drives a lowloader for Brocks purfleet. The 140 wasdriven by me,it was bought off Alfie Hutchings and used to be orange with blue and white stripes alfie had it on italys for halpin pierpoint.Just after these photos were taken the firm SGH folded. The name sgh european continude with out Terry and was run by Derek Best who used to run Parks of harlow.Derek had a wharehouse on the thames ind est near tate and lyle and that later became inter european frieght service,s

I only remember it, as despite being slightly lacking in licences(and being 16 year old) I drove it back solo from Dover once having dropped a brand new 141 off for the driver who was turning round, cant say why but the reg has stuck in my memory

Little Al:
This is Paul’s Camper Van.George Francis’s fitter was called Paul, here’s a photo of him, the Grey haired old chap in white overalls, he had a Volkswagen campervan , he was a miracle worker, one of those blokes who could tell your problem just by listening to the engine, even if the motor was in a puddle, he would just lie in it underneath to sort it, he used to check voltage by touch, or take blister’s off his hand with a rusty razor blade.
Dont make like that anymore. no health and safety then.
This is Francis’s yard Gate 9 Finland Yard, after one of his Fires’s, he shared it with a Fruit Haulage Company, anybody else out there work in the Surrey Docks Area, I remember an outfit Called Gayfrieght, they would be popular today, and Tommy Farrants Tippers.
i remember gayfrieght used to repair their trucks early 70s i had a garage near swanleyLittle Al

Boyzee, Just a minor detail but please tell me I’m not wrong and that tin woman in the windscreen of the 240 F88 is the original “Garanor Lady” from the very early 70’s. Every T.I.R Station had one and it was fun trying to recognise them.

I picked RVG up from volvo,s when it was brand new and drove it untill i got the 140,the driver who had it after me went flat out every where in it and abused it,when sgh folded i think the finance company took it back and must have sold it to d w burns
