Hi Chris,
Thanks for posting your pics did not realise that cowley had an in house fleet . Did this apply to Swindon PSF as well ? regards Keith .

Hi Keith, no Swindon didn’t have their own wagons that I can remember, we had 2 wagons that did 2 loads a day each between Cowley & Swindon every day, they were driven by Barry Harper & Les Jackman, steady little job if that’s what you wanted! Regards Chris

HW Dines were always running between Cowley, Swindon and Castle Brom, oh those C Type stillages, not good if you had to sheet em.

It means scrolling through the pages Keith, but I’m sure someone posted some pics on this thread of some Dines wagons a while back! Regards Chris

I have to correct you Mr Windrush on Dines fleet as I worked for them early 70’s and they actually only had one Seddon, the majority being Guy Big J’s with the rest made up of Atkinson Borderers and Leylands with a Scammel Crusader.

Page 1, Dieseldog66 put some on at the start of the thread, in answer to my original question. Think he was on for them about same time as Chazzer.

I am going back before then Chazzer as I had moved North to Derbyshire by the early 70’s. I feel sure that they had Seddon MK 15’s when I used to go with my dad in the late fifties/early sixties? Happen my old memory is playing tricks again!

Chazzer had left by the time I started there i believe, I was there from 77 to late 79 the fleet consisted of mainly Big J’s, not sure how many but probably 15, 1 Seddon, 2 Atki borderer’s with pidgeon loft sleepers , one Sed Atki, 3 maybe 4 Marathons, 1 Crusader, they were based in Charlton on Otmore (Merton) and moved to Wendelbury in 78, I was told that at one time they had close to 100 lorries but I’m not sure, as until I went to work for them, I’d never heard of them either. Drivers that were there at my time were the Tagg brothers,(Kevin & Alan) , David Leadbetter, David Hughes, John Jones, Archie Andrews, Dave Ewart & Barry Washbourne, only ones I can remember

Hi Steve, yes mate I think he was from Wood Farm, although I knew he was married with kids but no idea how many or names of! Nice bloke, quite happy staying on local stuff so whatever floats your boat!

Shock news flash; Doing all the legal speed limits last week (yes, still on Earthline) and getting everything done and a bit more, on a MAN auto, I earned fuel bonus!

I’ve noticed that the old silos at Kidlington are being demolished, ready for the rail upgrades.

Hello Micky1865, I did go for a job there, Xmas 77 and got it, but never took up the job, and for the life of me, as the years have past, I can’t remember why I didn’t.
