Ah! didn’t look anything up as was just going to bed, hence short post!but the picture stirred something in the back of my mind. My dad was on ‘plates’ from about 1949 'till he died in '64 and brought a car home every night ready for an early start. He must have driven every model made at that time including bus chassis. I never tired of looking at the new models, even though I knew I could never afford one! At first glimpse, the Riley came to me in a flash, strange after all those years!!
I remember dad buying an ex priors bulker for hauling scrap, very top heavy !!. pete steele who works for dad remembers priors as he drove for derrick benfield hauling coal,i believe benfilds used to own nell bridge garage which is now a car sales.

Hi, does anyone remember Priors of OxfordThe name rings a distant bell but no more than that! I think I may remember seeing their motors on the road after I had moved away. Have you any more info?
Benfields used to be at the garage on the left just before the lights coming from banbury as you entered Deddington
Another firm who had a depot off London Rd Headington, not sure where they originated from, but they had a lot of wagons (grey livery) at different car plants, they were considered cowboys, running any and all hours, one of their ex drivers was with us at Progressive, Ken Carter, he was also previously with MacLennan of Perth.

Question: what is the car on the bottom deck ■■?
Could be a Riley Pathfinder!
There was an MG which looked similar to that but I can’t remember the model, was it Magnet?? I do remember a friend of my father had one & I reversed into it with our Land rover one afternoon, that didn’t go down very well.

Your making the old head spin now but your right, there was an MG that was very similar, and I think your right with Magnet.

I remember it had a chromed radiator cap almost in the shape of a nut but I can’t make it out on the photograph.

Hi,
New to this memory testing forum which I am enjoying immensley.
Retired 1 year ago after driving in the industry for most of my life mainly with Autocar Transporters (17 years), Dines and latterly WilliamsF1 as a contractor, so have a few pics to share of the old days. Was very interested in the Radclive Forum as they were fairly close to my home I knew a lot of their drivers’ and regret not taking up the opportunity of joining them all those years ago. However, I stuck with Dines as Ray Court promised me some European work but after a couple of trips (antique furniture) to Italy, the work dried up.
I used John Beasley’s Guy Big J (ex Commercial Motorshow) with ■■■■■■■ 220 and a rabbit hutch on the back! I would love a picture of that one. I wonder if anybody else used these instruments of torture over the water? We had two smart tilts marked up with Daily Service to Belgium but again the work did not materialise-- permits probably.
Eventually got bored with Cowley to Milton Trading Estate ferrying and joined Autocar Transporters.
Here are a couple of pics for now… BTW to save embarrassment I have blanked the name out… but it wasn’t me, honest!
Hi midgeteler, welcome to the forum and to this thread. Hope to see more of your interesting posts and pics.in the very near future. I’m sure Dieseldogsix will be popping in to say hello, along with a few more. I’m struggling to get on here much at the minute, but still have a look in when I can.
Hello and welcome, Midgeteler I was at Dines from 77 to 79 almost 3 years, but I always thought that motor show Big J had a 250 ■■■■■■■■ Barry Washbourne had it when I was there and wrote it off in Belguim, I also ended up at Autocar Transporters but at the Coventry depot, do you have and more Dines Photos, I became good friend with Kevin and Alan Tagg.
Hi Dd6, just missed you at Dino’s then, I left mid 76–but must have met you at A/Cars–loaded out of Ryton many times with exports for Sheerness usually on a Friday night for Saturday tip.
Can’t picture Barry Washbourne but name ring’s a bell, but the Taggs yes, I consider Kevin to be the best roper and sheeter I 've worked with-- he used to put me to shame. It was always a pleasure to tip a trailer that Kev had loaded.
I’me afraid I 've exhausted my stock of Dines pics on the last post - but have a few ■■■■■■ ones. You may well be right 'bout the 220/250 ■■■■■■■ question-it just didn’t feel that pokey.
What happened to the old staff when they packed up? Did any go it alone, what about Ray,Ginger, Brian and JP ? Did he get hitched to the blonde bombshell (Christine?) in Cowley traffic?
Enjoy these…

There’ll be no chicks with dicks on this thread, driver…
Don’t worry Muckie, ■■■■■■ = Transporter----as if you didn’t know
