Hi bugcos yes one was a light bluish colour.Ron worked for Harrisons for 6/8 years then left in about 1979 and set up on his own with a F10 doing containers
IICR the F10 was Blue red and yellow he then had DAFs his son John was driving one lorry.when Ron worked at Harrisons he lived nr a railway bridge at Knutton.

Hi all,
Lee,s found a photo of the 112 Scania I had on LDT and let me copy it, pulling out of PMA potatoe store - Childs Ercall, Nr Market Drayton
Brilliant truck, had the blue trim inside, went like a train, even when that deep bulker was loaded to the hilt with spuds, way over weight !!!

Hi guys, spent the first 14 years of my life in Sneyd Green and looking through this topic brings back some memories of my childhood. When I was very young went to Sneyd Street primary school which had a transport company next door, sure it ran bright red aecs and big j
s can anybody remember the name cause ill be damned if I can and it
s bugging me.
Must have really got the truck bug when looking at these cause used to go with my uncle in his lad cabbed Staffordshire Farmers leyland and eventually started driving myself, currently on powder tankers.
For some reason during the night the name O.JONES sprung to mind, does this seem right.

Hiya …O Jones is correct they did quite a lot of steel out of Shelton. They had some 60ft extending trailers. At the moment i can only
bring to mind a Seddon 32 four tractor unit they had. The last time (3 years ago)i was in that yard Harrisons was running two brick cranes
and a tipper trailer from their. But i know they have moved back to Milton and i think the yard is now empty.
John
Cheers John, I can remember some seddons too, int it strange how you can remember things from forty+ years ago but can be buggered if I can remember what i
m actually supposed to be doing right now!
Strange this topic, nobody seems to have mentioned oatcakes and cheese, wrights pies or a pint of sterra!
Thanks again, Mark.
AAAAAHHHHHH oatcakes & cheese, my mouths watering just thinkin about em, but you coner beat some bacon with em, proper food eh mate. wright pies are sold all over the country now so i belive.
didnt o jones run from snyde street in cobridge?
cheers
gaz
Hiya you mention cheese n oatcakes.around 1979 i was using the Churnet Valley pub, at about 10ish the woman behind the bar
would stick a Bacon n cheese oatcake in the microwave knowing i would eat it if no one else would buy it,next moment
she would have sold at least a dozen can you imagine 3or4 pints and then that smell.thats how to make a quick buck at
Closing time.nothing to do with trucks but she did a mile or two in mine.

Hi all is beresfords still going ? When I was a lad my dad worked for a firm called Koopmans they did a lot of subbie work for them. They used to go to the Michelin factory and Monsantos. My dad usually stayed in this country. He did go with the boss once to france in an A series with no sleeper cab ! my dad slept under the trailer ! We well, all the family my mum my brother and me went too france once it was an experience lol. Derick Morgan did most of the contintal work in a Volvo F88 240 either FCR371L or BLV 320K .

Mercman,
Unfortunately Beresfords are no longer running, Ken Beresford is still about and rents out the old yard in Tunstall to a number of small firms. I think he sold up in about 93/94 - Bassetts bought some of the tractors and trailers along with the good will work, they carried on some of the european work for a while but stopped when the eastern onslaught began (like most good companies!!!)

Hi Ant thanks for that .It was a long time a go that I went up too the yard it would before 1980 thats when I left school. It used too be a nice drive up there from Shrewsbury .I used too go up there in an old A series ERF. It was an 8 cylinder Gardner GRL 13 L. At the time I didn’t see the facination of the ERF. When dad got one of the Volvo F 88’s I was in heaven . Suspension seats and a sleeper cab ! And they both went well BLV 320 K was an 8 speed one and FCR 371 L was a 16 speed one. Tony
