A bit off-piste with this enquiry, but did anybody know of a Kevin Jervis who worked for Bassetts and others upto the late 90’s? Retired after a serious accident I’m lead to believe…
I can remember Turners having that volvo 290, what was the problem with it was it bought locally? Can anyone recall Derek Rhead of milton who subbed for jl cooper, he had one for a while ex moorlocks, it was a cracking tool at that time.
Hiya i knew derek well from harrisons. derek loved his fodens aswell. i spoke to him last about 10 years ago
he was driving a 4 wheeler helping his son out…we was in ECC by the D road.

Hiya… that tony was a good lad. he would fix anything you asked for. did harrisons buy that 88 off derek when he had a foden.
i know harrisons had one 88 in that same colour. twilight drove it for a while.
did anyone get to know what happened to stevie cooper…i worked at ERF with him.
John
Hello john, yes tony was a good mechanic went on to have his own truck, that f88 you are right harrisons did have that after derek, it earned some money while it worked, moorlocks, derek then harrisons all of them would have worked it hard. He had an f10 after that 88 a v reg i think then he had another f10 a t reg, had a driver on that one a lad called dave bailey from sneyd green, and then the foden replaced the v reg i think.chris.

Hi there, excellent pic, please post more
My late father - Arthur Sproston - worked at Carmans/Brit European from the mid Sixties until mid Nineties. He worked with Gilbert and Ron.
If I recall, that first run Gilbert did to the ME was for Twyfords, a load of toilets, etc for a new hotel in Abu Dhabi.
Some clever person put a sign on the back of the trailer. It said "BOGS FOR THE W*** !"but don’t quote me as it was way back in the early Seventies.
Also 2 things I remeber about Ron Snape, he used string to hold his trousers up and he had a new Datsun (Nissan now) every year. Always booked 1st August off as a holiday so he could collect it at midnight !!!
I am sure BESTBOOTIES (Ian Taylor) on here has lots more stories to tell too.
Hiya …not seen Alan for years great bloke…some smart a…e wrote turbo wig in the sh.t on his trailer about 30 years ago.
