I can remember this old girl doing 40mph on the motorway !!
There was a couple of folk rattling on about this old girl somewhere on here not so long ago!
She’s not being left to rot is she?

TOMMY BROWNS OLD GUY:

I haven’t heard anything of Brian Limm for a long while, he went on to drive for Peter Carter after Brown’s and if I remember correctly drove E242PEE.Did Plover run a 140 or 141 ?
No idea about Limmy not heard anything for a long time.
Bumped into Dougie Webb’s lad Lee this morning, Limmy has been living in Stoke on Trent running a cafe but was talking about someone giving him a job on an 8 wheeler running scrap. He came up to Louth for Tony Hodson’s funeral.

I last saw this pulling out of felixstowe about 10 or 12 years ago, it had lost the rear part of the cab by then and had been cut down to a daycab!, certainly got their money’s worth out of it. p.s, never saw it doing over 40mph either!

Good to know he’s keeping his hand in.

Mr Bradley was an extremely talented and extraordinary bloke. He fitted the centre steering axle himself in one week using second hand parts in an old Nissan hut and when the rot became too bad he chopped the cab down to a day cab. I don’t know who owned it when new as it was a Hull registered lorry. It doesn’t surprise me you saw it in Felixstowe because he was not frightened of travelling all over the country.

I seem to recall a post on here sometime ago about George Bradley’s F88 going across to Ireland and is being /has been restored as the oldest working example of a F88. I’m not quite sure on the exact wording so maybe the claim wasn’t the oldest working example but it was along those lines.
It was ,in it’s time ,a part of the North Lincs scenery, with a 20ft tri-axle skelly behind it was just a mass of wheels in a short space, it would certainly test your reversing skills!
Cheers Bassman

Hi Bassman
Your absolutely right, I think one side of the trailer had a spare wheel hung on the chassis which made it look all wheels and a home made wind deflector mounted on the front of the trailer. They said he once had a gearbox fail in the southwest so he hired a car, drove back home, collected all the parts & tools and returned to the lorry and carried out the repair. Many people today can’t change a bulb !!!
