Oil for an LF 45.150

Sorry its only a little one

Any owners or techs know oil my LF 45.150 needs? Its a 2003 3.9, manual recommends ACEA E5 W-40 but I’ve no idea if any of those numbers relate to viscosity? Not tried the dealer’s yet, want to at least give myself a bit of choice to shop around before I go and see them.

Thanks

10 w 40 will do you if ive read it right its a mineral oil …

Forget the oil, post a few recent pictures of your camper conversion

Looks pretty smart indeed, takes some serious confidence to cut the arse out of a cab like that, what’s it like for water tightness?

What do you reckon she weighs in at now?

Was thinking about doing something similar recently with my little LF45 crane wagon. Was tempted to use a fridge body (pre-insulated) and make it mountable/demountable using the crane. Idea being that i could mount it and use it for holidays then demount it when working the truck.

Cab hole is water tight, frame bolts up nice and tight and its got a big sealer strip to close it fully. Having bigger problems with the side doors as the frame for that isn’t really designed to sit on the sill of the box, need to revisit that.

I reckon we’ve added over 1t of stuff but should still be OK to fill with people and gear. Anything remotely heavy will hopefully be going on a purpose-built trailer, half box half car deck.

Not touched it for months, too busy, thought I’d better give it some love hence the service. Actually quite surprised at the dealer, called them today, wanted 50 quid for oil but the guy was happy to talk for a while about the whole project and how best to get it up there and get it tested.

I’ll be updating that thread as soon as we’re back on it properly, if you want to get updates register on there and subscribe.

Demount sounds good, how long is your bed?

Thats the biggest limiting factor for me as the bed is only 4m long…mind you anything longer and the crane would probably struggle to lift it on/off anyway. Will have to be imaginative with the internal layout thats for sure… I can save on internal space by getting the missus to sleep in the day cab!

was looking at a sprinter fridge body being offered by a commercial breaker in Bristol…came off a 58reg and was pretty clean. I had lost interest in it …until i looked at your build thread

Good luck with it.

Depends if you have room to store another truck

15 w 40 E7 mineral oil

Before they were defunct Daf recommended E5 for the LF and Iveco E3 for the 75e17 even though they were the same engine which I always thought was interesting. Reminds me of when Rover used to use BMW and Honda engines and then recommend different oil grades to them.

The LF didn’t exist before DAF went bust…It only came out 2001…It takes 15w40 E7 mireal oil

Sorry worded it wrong meant the oil sequences not DAF becoming defunct but from googling it looks like E5 (now E7) was a later iteration for E3 as Euro 3 went to 4.
