Hi sniffy, Dave brandwood was a driver on the burmah contract, I think he came off the driving and started with linfox as a transport manager, He used to stay in Beverly Humberside ,He looked after the depots from grangemouth to Avonmouth, When linfox finished he went to tankfreight a good guy to work with .Just been having a look at the photos on the oil & fuel company thread, the Burmah linfox tankers always looked good,
ha ha very true ADR!
I stand to be corrected, but weren’t Texaco the first major Oil company to contract out their distribution?
Even with a not so clear picture, nothing beats nostalgia!

Hi anyone have any photos of a company back in the 1980s called LINFOX .I worked for them on the Burmah contract in Grangemouth , They lost the contract to p&o and i have never heard of them again, They were an Australian company not a bad lot to work for, We had FH12 volvos sleeper cabs great lorries to drive. Like a lot of drivers i never carried a camera as it was a pain handing it into security everytime you went to load .They used to park the tankers up in (i think it was sadlers yard) on haverton hill road. They also used to park up at Lindsey oil refinery i used to do some change overs at these depots when i worked for them.
Hi Matt, I hope that this may be of interest to you.

Hi Steve, thanks for the photos of linfox .I have been to australia a couple of times on holiday when i was employed by linfox, I was talking to some of the linfox drivers in perth about the job. The drivers over there were on better conditions than we were. I dont know what happened to linfox in the uk. I thought they were not a bad company to work for, My son works in new zealand with ■■■■■■ pacific on the caltex contract and he loves it over there. If you go to oil &fuel companies on this site you will see linfox tankers on the Burmah petroleum contract .(thanks to sniffy for posting them) hope all is well steve MATT.
Most of the major Oil Companies used to run these short single axle urban artics, but you never seem to see them now, maybe it’s the demise of a lot of rural/country garages that had smaller forecourts & smaller delivery quantities that has meant there is little use for them now? The one my das depot/Mobil had was about 24 ft long & was known affectionately as “Little Betsy”, they used it a lot for delivering the Diesel/Gas Oil round the ARC gravel pits/quarries in Oxfordshire/Berkshire/Wiltshire.
Here’s a BP Leyland, probably a Boxer.
Try again!
Always liked the Ultramar colours, the silver/blue looked smart on a tanker!
Never saw many Freedom tankers about!
Nice shiney new tank!
