Hi Wirralpete,
Wasn’t reliability one of the reasons the Leyland Gas Turbine wagon never went into production? Seeing this one parked on the hard shoulder with a fitter in attendance possibly points that way! Bit loike the V8 Mandator, they had the ideas but never quite got it right :frowning:

And then Uncle Tom Cobley had a van with a couple of 45 gallon drums in it, & he sold out to my next doors milkmans cat, who was part owned by a bloke I knew in the Red Lion who used to chew bread for our ducks :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: Honestly isn’t it ridiculous, how many times can these fuel contracts change hands before we eventually run out of hauliers to take them on? With H&S & Construction & Use, & the drivers needing more & more licences/certificates & letters from the Queen to drive the ■■■■ things, the cost of everything going up & up all the time :frowning: And don’t tell me these contracts change hands for reasons of quality of service etc cos that is just glossy mag promotional crap! They change hands 99% of the time cos of 1 thing, “PRICE”!!! Who can shave another 0 of the quote, & as s**t rolls down-hill where do you think that saving is always going to come from? Answers on a postcard please! Sorry to sound negative but the people doing these deals & negotiating it all very often don’t even know what a fuel tanker looks like, if you pulled an artic outside their plush office window & asked them which is the tractor & which is the trailer they wouldn’t know without looking it up on the Inter-net :unamused:
Regards Chris

Hi Pete,I don’t recall the Leyland running out of Hyde depot but if it did it would have made short work of Woodhead.
And it wouldn’t have been parked around the back of the Dog and Partridge boozer on a dodgy either.

Your spot on with that Chris. But it does’nt end there mate Stiller then sold out to the Hargreaves group who in turn run the tankers under the Imperial Tankers banner  .And to think that Sadlers had been operating for over 100 years.

From what I can see the only people that are gauranteed job security & continuous employment by the Chemical/Fuel Industry are the firms that make the vinyl lettering for the cab doors/tanks :unamused:
