Just watched an episode of Judge Rinder, he awarded a woman compensation because of comments her landlady made on FB - about the quality of her work.

Quite true Jon, there’s a basic law on compensation that says that if somebody can show that somebody else has caused them quantifiable loss or damage, then the person responsible for that loss or damage will have to compensate them for it.
When it comes to posts on TN that could be potentially damaging, it’s best for the poster to include a verifiable link to where the ‘info’ has come from.
That way, it was somebody else that said it, but unfortunately a link to some garbage on FB (or similar) simply doesn’t pass the legal test of the ‘info’ being verifiable.
For example, a link to a published newspaper report, or a news report on ITV/Sky/BBC news that XYZ haulage has gone broke or lost a contract would be perfectly acceptable on TN.
