I’m assuming you mean he was sacked for checking his phone for a text whilst driving if so then totally his fault don’t you think ?

Totally…as I said, its not the job if you are addicted to your phone

If you hit the rumble strip, or any other type of “bump”, it activates an alarm back @ HQ…where they can view the previous X amount of footage, hence the welcoming committee on his return…

I worked there for ten years (on the vans)

Stick to the rules and it’s a easy job ,cross the line and it’s p45 (in all roles) .

The cameras (smartdrive) record constantly but will only flag up when G force or speed is exceeded then they get a 30 second clip sent them that shows gps ,speed , footage from inside the cab and outside the cab .

The artics do run at max hours if you want the overtime but normally it’s a 40 hour week , anytime over 40 hours is paid at time & 1/4 .
Shifts start at midnight 7 days a week in all weathers .
Class 1 drivers are on just under £12 ph
Would I work there again ? Yes

Yes there’s a camera facing forwards and backwards in the trucks and vans but as a professional driver you should know what you can and can’t do. I never really understood why having a camera in the cab was such a big issue for some ppl

Very easy, straightforward job but I wouldn’t go back. Working lates and weekends plus the commute when they relocated meant less and less time to spend with family, friends etc. When I started they didn’t work Sundays and were only six miles from home
