Obsolete satnav!

I just went to update my satnav, a Snooper S7000, and apparently it’s been unsupported since Dec 2020

I’d been using the satnav in the truck the past few years, until I packed in my job in Jan.

I’m slowly getting myself ready for some part time work, most likely doing home delivery for supermarkets, but I’m not ruling out a bit of part-time / agency HGV work if needs must.

Do companies generally put their own tablets in their vehicles nowadays, with satnavs on them? Or would I be best advised to replace my old Snooper? I don’t want to shell out £300 if I don’t have to. I’ve only had one employer in the last 10 years, so I’m a bit out of touch with who does what.

Did you try to update it by the internet or buy a new sd card with map on.

Via the internet. There doesn’t appear to be an SD card for an S7000

I picked up a TomTom TruckNav with 2024 maps for £49 on ebay.

Search " TomTom Truck HGV Sat Nav maps 2025".

Does it work well? I always assumed the £50 units were Chinese counterfeits, or old second hand units, so always avoided them.

yes, it’s an old unit but hasn’t put me in danger yet. I always check my Philips paper map before any new journey though and never rely solely on the nav.
