What a joke, I canāt believe hauliers still allow themselves to be shafted with these scandalous payment terms, Iāve a good idea who this company is ( no not Matthews on this occasion), they will sit you around all day waiting to get loaded too,
There a multi national company as well and all the big hauliers pull for them, i emailed her back to ask if it was a mistake and she replied,
"Payments are allocated after 120 days so whatever you do for us in August will be paid into your account by Bacs on January 1st 2017 "
She need not worry as i wont be doing anything in August September or anytime in the forseeable future !

No because theirs are weekly , paid 8 weeks behind
My old boss told them to do one when they took over a company we were subbing too a lot, whoād always paid on the 20th day of the following month. My boss said that their (not Mathews) sometimes slim rates were acceptable, due to the quick terms, 10 days better than the next best customer he had at the time
but at 56days and some, not a hope.
Remember this when you think you are getting a good bogoff deal in the supermarket. Although not necessarily in this particular case, this is a result of suppliers as spineless as hauliers accepting similar payment and other terms from the supermarkets. It is the supplier taking the hit on the bogoff or āpromotionā - not the supermarket. Furthermore, at the end of an accounting period will come a letter outlining that: āWe calculate that the last three months have seen you make a profit of Ā£ā ā ā ,000 on product supplied to us. To continue or valued relationship we shall require an x% share of these profits.ā To keep production going the factories roll over, accept the terms and recover the cost from their own suppliers.

Is it not possible to name the said outfit then? If youāre not going to work to 120 day terms your not going to be bothered about upsetting anyone!
You never know what may change in the future so lets just say its a manufacturer of rebar in Cardiff, think we will all know who it is
I was thinking drop hide it loose it

Maybe they need the interest earnt from all those delayed payments to pay for all that concrete they need to fill all those potholes in and around their premises (assuming itās who Iām thinking it is)

Ridiculous. If you do a job on 1st August, you get your money five months later? Perhaps the big boys can accommodate this but how can any small to medium haulier work on these terms? As much as anything, it suggests to me that the company offering the work has a serious cashflow problem and for that reason alone, I wouldnāt touch the work with a bargepole.

Reckon more likely to cover non existant interest rates now coming out from the banks.

Is that sound of a nail being hit squarely on the head, oh yes, thatās revenue correction written out large
I would agree Harry , i havent done anything for them this year but last year it was 30 days month end, hell of a jump from 30 to 120 days

Obviously in financial trouble.
I wager they will be out of business before long.
Iāve not done anything for them for over two years, but I still get almost daily emails with often up to 30 loads on offer that they are looking to cover. Itās half a day to load (if youāre lucky), no demurrage payment, and poor rates. Canāt understand why anyone works for them. The usual backload hauliers in Cardiff and Newport offer work from there but if I ring for a backload from any of them my opening comment after the usual pleasantries is āIām not going into you know whoā.
I only work with 30 days.
Anything else is not worth doingā¦
I would not work for that eithe. As HM said, something fishy or the bean counters look in for a bonus
