Just want to comment on when you said a God that gets angry if you mock him but is indifferent to death seems weird.I would fully agree with you if God was a human or even some sort of superhuman. But I thought of a little analogy. If I went to your workplace and you didnt know my name, you might say, alright mate,or something like that. But if King Charles went to your workplace and you called him mate, that would be a bit disrespectful, would it not? So,when you consider an infinitley good God of everything, how are you going to measure the respect which would be due to Him.If you mock another driver, then,OK,but if you mocked a small child, that would be seen as not a nice thing to do,worse than mocking another driver because its an innocent child. So how do measure how serious it is to mock an innocent God?
Children are more innocent than adults of course, but then,if you have kids, you know that you dont have to teach them to lie ,or fight between each other and bullies in the playground, these things happen from their inherent sinful nature

So…which roads are closed■■? [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Hahahahaha

No, wasn’t meaning to have a go at you individually, just a comment on how far and how quickly the thread changed direction (which is not always a bad thing)

Ok,sure

This is one of the reasons I pay my girls parking at city hospital notts ( when she’s on mon- fri days ) , she can’t get a parking permit for free parking ( even though she’s a full time nurse ) as she lives within 10 mile radius of hospital , if she didn’t park at hospital she’d have to walk 2/3 miles from nearest car parking she could get , it costs £8.50 p/ day , often £60- £70 pm but I will not have her walking the streets at 6 / 19.09 , winter in pitch dark no chance , never mind summer .
Same when wife was down for jury service , said it’s not safe to have 60 yr old women driving back road on own in winter , walking from bus / train - court , court to bus train / home , obviously court agreed as excused her
You can’t be with them all the time , but like paying for parking you can try & mitigate the chances of some scum attacking them , you don’t stop becoming there dad when there 30 ,
Feel so sorry for these kids / old chap , loved ones , I hope it never happens but If any scum go near my girl / mrs I hope I’m there

Now I’m really scared. Here I am 59, next few days and next year I turn into someone that needs a chaperone.

All those years ambling around, sleeping in laybys and industrial estates, some over in the darkest continent of Europe, wonder I’m still alive. Now I keep insisting on mooring my boat in random places, sometimes in the middle of towns, sometimes in the middle of nowhere. Looks like I’ll have to stop that next year and take up knitting at home behind locked doors.

In seriousness, you have to use your head when you come to safety, but you can’t allow it to rule your life.

As she’s become older ( wife ) I’ve become more protective of her , she seems more vulnerable , or maybe it’s my way of making up for all the years I wasn’t the perfect hubby , or maybe I appreciate more what I’ve got now , but I really don’t want anything to happen to her , so I’ll do what ever it takes to make sure she’s safe
Strangely my wife has always been the out / about , tanning , nail sessionns type , but she now spends hours knitting blankets for the cat / outfits for the local kids
Anyway if anything happened to her who’d cook my meals , put my clothes out for morning , make my pack up , do my hospital appointments , put the water on for my shower when I get home etc etc , unless your offering , no I know wife’s told me more than once no one else would want you ha ha

You’re generally very good at trolling Dozy but every now and again you slip and it becomes too obvious. Interestingly there’s 3 of you that bring up my ditch episode at every chance but I don’t think Carryfast is Dozy which just leaves…….

You’ve completely lost me , it’s a thread about some piece of scum killing innocent people , I’ve said I try to mitigate the chance of that happening by paying for my girl to park at her place of work rather than walk for miles through dark streets , mrs the same , I write a letter saying I don’t believe it’s safe for a 60 yr old women to drive back roads or walk at night through city streets , the jury service agree with me and excuse her from jury service , what’s trolling about that ? I’d of said it’s being a caring dad / husband
As for who I am / am not I’m sure the moderators could easily clear that up , but for reasons they can only explain they never have , I’ve only ever been ady1 , dozy on here , I changed to dozy for the simple reason I
Couldn’t log in under ady1 so changed to dozy
As for bring up you running lorries off the road , it’s revelant as even you say you’ve not drove for years , you couldn’t keep it on the tarmac when you were driving full time , so to give you the keys of a new lorry it’s the stupidness you get from t/o normally , giving the new pass & brand new lorry & 6 drops in London , I don’t know who’s more stupid , the bloke giving you the keys to the new lorry or you accepting them , and as you spend your time in a classroom what are we going to learn from you attempting to drive this lorry , give the keys to a full time driver who can tell us if these electric lorries will actually do the job , but by all means carry on , we will learn nothing of use from it , and crouch recovery will earn a few £££ , and you can tell your classroom stories about the day you were chosen to drive a electric lorry .
That me done with thread , I apologise for being dragged into commenting on something not revelant to the thread
Thought with the poor souls who’ve lost there lives

That’ll be a yes then

If you’re looking for trolls, you’re in the right place

Unfortunately despite a wealth of experience they aren’t very good ones tho

Out of interest though, why did you add loads of spelling errors to my quote? Bit of a weird one that.

I believe that Stark Trek next gen (the best series IMO) is actually a documentary series sent to us from the future to warn us.

I like the bit from a “Court of Q” scene where Picard makes reference to a point in their past (but our future where the world “done away with all the lawyers”… :smiling_imp:

God imagine that. To the perennial question ‘You you could time travel what point in history would you go’ my answer is I wouldn’t, I’d go 1,000 years into the future. The past is an already written story. And I’d love the idea of travelling the universe. If we will or not is unknown, we will possibly wipe ourselves out first, but look at how fast we’ve progressed in past 100 years, anything is possible

If the past were “Cemented in place” and the “Future not yet written” - then the paradox is that “1000 years in the future is 500 years in the past for someone 1500 years in the future” - so how does one re-write as OUR 3023 future (for 2023) that is already set in stone for someone in the year 3523, and cannot be re-written from their point of view?

I reckon if you alter the time at any “historical pivot point” - you change the entire time line, possibly wiping out an entire future and all the civilzations living in it - as a consquence…
Eg. Go back to 1930 and get rid of Hitler? - Stalin takes over the world instead. Go back to 1940 and kill both Hitler AND Stalin? - The technological developments of (what to us is…) the post war period didn’t happen and over a billion die from the same diseases that have now been cured since WWII in our timeline…

SCENARIO: Britain didn’t get a referendum in 2016? Europe isn’t weakened by Brexit, but still pursued the policy of Eastward Expansion, eventually ending up with (for example) Azovs in their Ukrainian Civil War targeting Russia over the border (without the Russia-Ukrainian invasion having occured…) and precipitating WWIII, because this time around - the West didn’t pay any heed to what Azovs were doing on the Russian Border, and no one cared in the West until some Asov fool thought he’d try and call the so-called “Dead Man’s Switch” strategy as “a Bluff”, only to find all of Russia’s nukes in flight the moment say, the Black Sea Fleet got “DIrty Bombed” by Azov sabateurs, which, alas - sets off the Dead Man’s switch “Auto-retalation” because Crimea has been a Russian Possession again for long enough that it comes under the umbrella of “Russian Territory”, which it would bearing in mind the strategic importance of defending the Black Sea Fleet…

The world might look (worst case sceario) VERY different if the chain of events these past 10 years we think of as “Recent History” went differently starting from 10 years ago!

Don’t forget, that 500 years ago “Religious Debators” were THE Trolls of the age.

Britain leaving what was then the “Roman Catholic European Christian Union” - was a direct consequence of such “Debators” like Martin Luthor of the Wittenberg Protestant Reformation…

Efforts to get the Church to reform, fell upon deaf ears, with the result that several European nations, including Britain - ended up leaving what was formerlly seen as “Christendom” and the “Holy Roman Empire”.

There are quite a few parallels between the “Protestant” and “Leave EU” movements, of course… The common trigger to both was the same though:

"No, we won’t reform: We realize there’s a lot of corruption and waste - but who cares? Our power remains."

Does it? Did it?

Fear - is all about perception: What you don’t know - doesn’t hurt you.
We’ve become more aware than ever before of the inherent dangers of all sorts of things, including “walking home at night”, or indeed like these poor students found - in broad daylight…
I find a more “Paranoid” outlook generally - gets me out of what could easily turn into nasty spots…
I tell my University-attedning Daughter on-foot “not to pass people on bridges”, “Always leave yourself an escape route when walking alone”, and even “not to accept lifts from inexperienced Student drivers” for instance…

Road-wise, have we not all heard of the concept of the “Idiot Space” - that place on the road ahead, where a decent driver dare not enter because all manner of dreadful accidents can happen the moment a 2nd “Idiot” driver enters the same space - literally, THE accident waiting to happen…

If I were the pedantic kind I would point out - in the interests of historical accuracy - that there was no such country as Britain then.
