Norman Ingram:
Dave I forget you come from the black hills still you go a lot faster when you are driving.
Green hills here Norm, either grass or forestry.
Cheers Dave.

Norman Ingram:
Dave what about all those slag heaps.
None in Mid Wales Norm, and Iām only a mile inside the Border. North or South Wales for the slag heaps which are getting less.
Cheers Dave.

Nothing like that in this area Harry, nearest one would be at the Mumbles near Swansea I would think. We donāt get many ships in this area. There are three boats on a large pool about a mile from here.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Not much need for a lighthouse on a millpond Dave, youāve really got
to be out of sight of land with a gale blowing before being a mariner
starts to have fun.

Just a simple country bumkin in a land locked area this way Harry. Donāt have any use for lighthouses around here. Just a little glow from the moon occasionally.
Cheers Dave.
Dave do you want to borrow our lighthouse, butit has no beam of light so it wonāt keep you awake.

Thatās good Norm, because when I have been in hospital I could never sleep much because its to light. I can sleep through most things, but I do like it to be dark.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Thereās a street light right outside my property and for a couple of days a week or
so ago the bulb had blown, the light illuminates my caravan and car and to tell you
the truth when it was out I didnāt sleep very well, even with lined curtains the glow
seeps through and I actually missed it and it maybe coincidence but I had a couple
of awful nights sleep when it was totally black returning to normal when a new bulb
was fitted, seemingly an elderly neighbour of ours had phoned the street lighting
people telling them she couldnāt sleep because she missed the light, should the lamp
fail again maybe I should go and get in bed with my neighbour maybe we can find
something to do while the two of us arenāt able to sleep.
thanks harry, long retired.

Life in the old dog yet Harry. I suppose light is something you get used to. Living out in the sticks we never had street lamps for years, then we had a few around the village, then about three years ago the council switched half of them off to save money, with most of the others being switched off at midnight. I have security lighting both sides of this place on a sensor, plus a Cairn Terrier who will let rip if someone is about.
Cheers Dave.
Silly old sod Harry, you could not get up to any games with the lady, to play on for crib & dominoeās you need light and a table.

Perhaps Harry has an luminous set of cards and dominoes Norm.

Nothing like that Norm but I do have a big torch,
thanks harry, long retired.
That might be correct Harry, but are the batteries
in good workin g order?
hiya,
Donāt know Norm, I never get to try it out.
thanks harry, long retired.
Tell me something new I think most of us ex- lorrydrivers have been used and abuse and left on the scrapheap just like the vehicle we drove!

No we havenāt Norm, most of todayās younger drivers wonāt be earning as much money as we were in real terms. They arenāt as relaxed about the job like drivers were years ago. A lot of them are in debt way over their heads with finance etc.
We aināt on the scrapheap, we have something to show for ourselvesā¦self respect and solvency.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Took a step back in time for seven hours yesterday, took the Grandkids to
Beamish Open Air Museum itās just along the road from where I live a great
day out, we lived in the late 19th to the early 20th century, one thing we
did was spend a spell below ground in a former coalmine the conversation
went something like this āmeā Granda did this when I first left school āthemā
Oh no you didnāt you drove lorries my Mam has a picture of you with a lorry
Itās not a cheap day out Ā£46 for a twelve months pass go as many times as
you like then it was about Ā£30 for our fish and chip lunches afterwards lots
of coin for incidentalās like ice creams and pop but us and them had a good
day and will get my pass money back by many more visits over the year.
thanks harry, long retired.
You missed my meaning, meant by our women folk. Glad you are living up to your grand dad roll Harry.
