Some nice photos there, Driver.Glad to see you got them up OK.

Nice pics :sunglasses:

I’ll post a link on the other forum for ya driver

Some nice shots there. I think I’ll leave BC to you western boys in the winter! Seeing a jacknifed truck off the road is always a sobering sight. I’ve been in that situation myself in 2010 in Maine when I had to avoid a stranded car that I could hardly see due to freezing rain mixed with snow on my windscreen that wasn’t clearing. End result was the car was missed but I strayed in to deeper snow on the shoulder and got dragged in, the truck jacknifed and slid down the embankment towards the trees and turned over. A very unpleasant experience though thankfully I didn’t suffer a scratch due to wearing my seatbelt and as the truck had stopped when it rolled and then landed in deep snow, there was next to no damage at all. That happened to me on flat ground in horrendous conditions, I’ve no desire to chuck mountains in to the equation!

Nice pics mate, we did too and fro in the Rockies during winter 2008/09, the amount of dirt thrown up from the road was a pain in the arse. Drive safe.

Nice diary and pics Mr Flysheet, I am sure I have seen some tyres like that on the A303 in a hedge.

Great photos… This is what im gonna be doing in January… these fridges and box vans are for wimps… :grimacing: LOL.

Proud to be a wimp at -35 lol.
Mr Flyshedt is made if tougher stuff he’s from the north.

i do like those volvos, are the cabs/switchgear similar to euro spec.

The dashboards are basically straight out of an FH and all the best ones come with I-shift, not the witches couldron full of stones and gravel with a long stick pertruding in to the cab, known locally as an Eaton Fuller box of gears.

Heres one I drove in 2011, brand new at the time.

cheers
bloody hell, i-shift aswell, i’m guessing from most of the expat diaries i read, that the autos are still the minority over there.

They’re gaining ground all the time and while most auto trucks have crappy Eaton “Smart shift” type efforts that basically clunk through every gear, Volvo’s introduction of the I shift a few years back really made them smarten up and make an effort at making proper auto boxes. I dont know what percentage of new trucks are auto or not at the moment but its certainly a lot higher than when I came here in 2009. I personally cant be arsed with all this crash box nonsense and love my auto, even if it is like something last seen in Europe in the late 80s. The only time I miss a manual is when I’m shunting as these things are all or nothing, often sending you slamming into a trailer or loading dock at high volocity.

Nice to see a qualcom sited where you can actualy see it not 6inch of the ground. :stuck_out_tongue:
yeah i know you are not supposed to use them on the go but …when it beeps ya do wonder what crap dispatch is sending you :unamused:

Great shots, thanks for posting! Was interested to see Rocanville, SK. I flew over there about 7 years ago and spent a couple of weeks in and around Rocanville with friends. Good times

Mines different inside than your robinhood its got spilt coffee allover & the dashboard is a lot duller, its got a much less funny looking gear lever too…
