Not good news for me

A couple of years ago we lost the contract to my normal delivery in VT because whoever is doing the buying chose not to do as the company promises the customer to use only high quality ingredients and instead use liquid crap from another very poor rated company. After a year or so the QA in that famous Vermont company put their foot down and started rejecting the rubbish and so we got our work back, everyone was happy especially the staff in the factories concerned. Two weeks ago the refinery shipped 4 loads of good stuff to the other crappy company and I questioned why ? “Doesn’t matter, it’s still selling product” I was told.
I was suspicious and on arrival at the St Albans plant I was tipped off my staff that the crap company had sent some new mix in and the buyers were switching back, they informed me that it could be a mixture of their crap and our top quality stuff, which would account for the loads of good stuff from us. I told the top people at our refinery who are really ■■■■■■ at loosing work to the crappy firm but again I get the reply “Nothing we can do really, we can’t stop them mixing and blending with our stuff”
“But you can … don’t supply it to them and it will soon stop” I told them “Get your sales people up there and sell your product, if they are happy with cheap rubbish sell them our cheap rubbish for less”
Not interested because the company is convinced they will soon realise the error and return to us as they did before. I can’t believe how complacent they are about this, they are just throwing away sales.
Anyway … if in future you are in northern USA and wonder why the taste of that very expensive ice cream has changed for the worse it’s because they have decided to include liquid crap in their product which they are getting cheap fom a company that recently got temporarily closed down because a dead body was found in their tanks
My company still has the delivery contract as they did before, but now the trucks you see going into the plant don’t have nice stuff in them.

I will probably be getting some Montreal runs again now

Best totty in North America in Montreal :sunglasses:

I haven’t been there for a while but have been told that the bypass along the south side is now complete.

I was last there about 10 months ago, I don’t know what bypass you mean, I know you can drive interstate grade highway all round the city, using the tunnel on route 20 to the north. Can’t remember the route number to the south ?

Yes the new bypass is complete and has been open since last December, there is a toll right at the end near where it joins next to the former (now closed down) flying J but this can easily be gotten around, though the toll is only about $5.50. I dont think it will concern Pat though as I presume he comes up the I87 and crosses at Champlain / Lacolle and heads directly north in to the city.

The new ring road is a Godsend at times but the older part of it up near Boucherville is already heavily developed with industrial estates and housing areas and is just as heavily congested at peak times as the city is and the new southern section thats only just opened will go the same way as huge bill boards have now gone up offering all surrounding land for housing and retail development. Within 5 years the whole ring road will be as clogged up as the roads directly through the city.

That Flying J was my haven when I was stuck there for 4 days last year, the food was brilliant, and I got my showers there, I can’t understand why it closed ? That tiny flea pit at Napierville has chuff all to be of any use (except selling Crunchies) LOL

There is a large Irving Big Stop at St. Liboire at exit 145 going out of Montreal towards Quebec City on the 20. They only have a St. Hubert chicken restaurant now but the shower facilities are superb. If you want to go the other way and to Ontario there is the new Flying J at Lancaster at exit 814 on Hwy 401, but thats about 25-30 miles beyond where the old Flying J used to be. There are a few smaller truckstops in Montreal, one worth knowing about is the Petrocanada at Anjou. If you copy and paste these coordinates to google maps / satellite you’ll see it. Theres a fair bit of parking, a restaurant and showers. 45.619883,-73.55482 I have parked there several times, though I cant say what the showers are like as I’ve never used them yet.

Apparently Sobey’s offered Flying J a huge sum of money to buy the land the truckstop sits on to redevelop in to yet another supermarket and from all accounts, though its only gossip, Flying J have had a strained relationship with the Quebec authorities any way. You’ll notice that that Flying J was one of the very few in North America to have retained its original restaurant. Word has it from the people at the former Flying J that Denny’s were not prepared to go to the hassle of doing everything in French for one single restaurant so refused to open one there. Though of course another just as likely explanation would be that Flying J knew they were going to sell up and close down so no need to refurbish and build a Denny’s there at all. I rather think the latter to be true.
