And here’s some pics for you:

  Hi/ lads thanks to all of you for your info: it’s like being 30 years younger again, it’s bringing back long lost memories,i must admit i had lots of jobs but i like to think i did my best, most, if not all my ex gaffers would have had me back anytime, i was a bit of a rebel but that was the way to go,
a lot of the good times went out of the job around 1970 when new legislation was brought in, must have 1 day a week rest, cut to 60 hours max!!
sleeping in cabs led to being on the drop at night, all the socialising and nipping to the pub allbut disappeared,( still, i didn’t have to stop at "tranby’s) anymore, the kidlington oassis!!! thanks again to all, any pic’s welcome,
creating my own pile, for posterity, ta-ta stan,
it’s only a piece of metal
with wheels on :unamused: :unamused:

Stan if you contact “Heritage Commercials” mag. you will find that (I think) last year they did a copy of some ERF advertising blurb, the sale stuff that goes to potential buyers etc.

The article was a 2 or 3 page spread and the wagon they used was a “G” or “C” reg ERF day cab complete in the colours of Northern Ireland Trailers.

I did know the foreman night fitter at preston dock (long before the move to Fleetwood days) and his name was Frank Newman and also I worked with an ex NIT,s driver many moons ago called Joe Turner who lived in Chorley.

Norman, I have the brochure you’re referring to, and (without digging it out to confirm) I think it’s a G-reg and is taken on the dock at Preston coupled to a Pitt skeletal trailer with two 20’ NIT boxes on it.

Joe Turner has his own firm (as you may know) which is Turners of Hoole - a very smart fleet of ERFs

I can second that, I bought an ex Turners of Hoole ERF Olympic pictured here at The Festival of the Plough, Epworth near Doncaster. regards Big Al
