yes mate you can go that way, gets a bit hairy in the winter but on a day like to today it will be a lovely ride over there, its not quick though, lots of twists and turns and ups and downs but its a quiet road during the week, just watch out for the sheep as they arent fenced in up there
Castleton High street can be tight if the locals have abandoned their cars everywhere as usual but it is passable.
As Chaversdad says its a nice road but not one to trundle along on your limiter… lots of twists and some fairly steep hills, and lots and lots of sheep !!
I go over there from time to time fully freighted in my artic bulker and it’s a bit of a drag but the scenery more than makes up for it. As Rikki says Castleton high street can be a bit of a pain but once you’re through there it’s all open roads up over the tops past the Blakey Lion with fantastic views down into Rosedale and Farndale.

Cheers Paul,
Just couple of plts on when heading over so shouldnt be too bad up the hills.
Tip at Dale Head in Rosedale from time to time, looking in map looks like the road you can see right up on top when in Rosedale?
