Hello Robert
Great thread just been reading through it. Fantastic pictures and drivers nicknames !
Can you ever remember seeing a Volvo F12 globetrotter with a 3 axle unit down that way ?
I remember the driver telling me that they used to do North Africa would have been about
mid 80s 85/86 ish from memory. Pic attached of the lorries colour scheme might jog the
memory !

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! Those F12s are nice looking lorries - good livery too; but that’s before my time down there. Robert

If I recall correctly M&D used to haul meat down to Algeria a few years back.
There’s at least one ex-M&D driver on here, hopefully he/they’ll be able to add a bit more info for you.
And yes Robert, they were fine looking trucks, one the better SW firms back in the day
Craig
Hello Robert / Craig
Yes I was sure they did go that way. The driver was a big bloke on the F12 globetrotter cant
remember his name. Was a cracking looking motor.

I’ve just got back from nine days’ travelling in Algeria (not by lorry, now that I’m retired!). Didn’t get much of a chance to snap the Algerian trucking scene, but I managed a few. I’ve chosen this thread on which to post them because nearly all the Algerian stuff is on it. Enjoy! Robert

No real security probs. The Algerians were extremely friendly and welcoming. Robert
ok tks m8
The Berliets look far more “modern” than the later stuff. If you came down from Mars, you would swear that the FH and Premium were two decades older than the 1960s-designed French vehicle.
Oh! Here are three more pics I took in Constantine, Algeria. Robert
