Norfolk truckstops roundup

Norwich:
Livestock market, Hall road (off Ipswich road) - Norfolk Dumpling Cafe/Bar. £5 for an overnight. Set to close within the next 6 months.

City centre:
Council parking area near Carrow Road football ground. Follow the ring road anticlockwise from the western approaches. Pass Carrow Road football ground, and turn right, following the ring road towards Gt Yarmouth. Once over the railway bridge, the road turns left, and immediately following this is a left turn into a residential street, which is tight, and likely to be pretty busy with Royal Mail trucks. Their artics turn this corner every night, so it can be done. About 600 yards down on your left is the parking area, which usually has one or 2 RM artics parked up in it. Payment is pay and display. I forget the cost - sorry. On site facilities, none. Nearby, within 5 minutes walk is the (expensive) convenience store on the railway station, and a number of inns and take-aways, Highly recommended pub; The compleat angler, good food and good beer with pleasant river views.

Necton (a47 between Dereham and Swaffham)
Hungry Horse Cafe, Cafe with showers etc. £6.00 for an overnight, which includes £4.20 food. Cafe open 7am to 8pm

Gt Yarmouth
Council truck and coach park near north beach. Local to town centre (about 10 mins walk). Facilities & cost unknown

King’s Lynn:
Council truck park near town gates. Has been over-run with travellers in the past. Near to town centre, pubs/take-aways within walking distance. Facilities - Parking only / costs unknown.

Thetford (Red Lodge)
Best truckstop in Norfolk. Off the A11 dual carriageway between Thetford and the A14 junction. Parking free (and usually very busy). Showers £1, hot food available 24 hours.

A11 Between Thetford and Attleborough.
Westbound, there is a turning (usually marked) into a wooded area with good parking. Food van is there 6 or 7 days a week from 6am to 4pm. Parking up is free, and there are toilets.

Areas with regular food stands:
A11 west of Thetford. Laybys west of the town on the single carriage way section have vans in from 6 or 7am to about 5 or 6pm. Parking is good, and there’s one each side about a quarter mile from the roundabout.

A47 Norwich bypass.
There are several vans at various sites along this 10 mile stretch in both directions, usually from about 7am to 3pm.

A12.
There are very few vans or good parking spots on this road, in fact, the only ones I know of are off the A12 itself. Gorleston industrial estates have vans, and one has a cafe buried in the depths (ask a local)
The Tesco just off the A12 at Gorleston (turn off the roundabout that has a McD’s and row of shops on one side) heading towards Gt.Yarmouth/Gorleston and it’s on your left) is truck accessible for a quick shop, and is 24 hour.
