Norfolk to Uxbridge 27/10/2010

Hi,

As the subject says, off to Uxbridge tomorrow after some numpty hit my car and wont admit it. At least his statement claims it was my offside front that made contact, why did I get the nearside front repaired then?

Anyway, are there any roadworks on M11/M25 or A505/A1/through Hatfield tunnel then down the A414.

Got to be there for 1030 so leaving at 0730ish.

Thanks in advance for any help

You’ll be better off going A505 A1, A414 then dont get on M25 go thru middle of Watford and that way into Uxbridge as that part of the 25 will be a nightmare when u get there!

oh Uxbridge - its my hometown :stuck_out_tongue: whereabout in Uxbridge

i went to Perivale today, on A40, quater mile from North Circular from Stanton nr Bury st Eds, 3hrs on satnav, i have done it in 3hrs before via M11 M25, today the M11was clear clear, but at the M1 split on 25 i lost 30 mins, weather you go 505 or M11, you will hit it, only other easy way is M11 A406  . Id allow 3.30mins whatever way you go, should be ok as youre in a car.

Thanks for the replies guys, I’ll see which way the wheel goes when I get to the 505!!

The County Court on Hillingdon Road. My mate lives about 1/2 mile from it so parking at his.

Then its on to Datchet Water to do some sailing

I used to live in Uxbridge while in the forces so know my way, it was more of which way would be better. And no, I aint going round the 406.

Wise decision - avoid on A406!

If you go down the A505 heading for the A1M, just bear in mind that there are roadworks going through the Hatfield tunnel both ways, 40 mph limit, three lanes into two and by the time you get there it will be rush hour-ish!

Plus the A1M can be flippin’ slow from Letchworth Gate J9 down to Stevenage South J7. I’ve missed many appointments because of this, despite it being a regular thing

The M25 will be ■■■ from J22 anti clockwise through the roadworks.

I’d be tempted to go down A505, M1 south, then come off at Bricket wood, round Watford on the A405, and rejoin at J19. But people doing that is what ■■■■■ up the M25 anti clockwise!

Thanks for all the tips. As you can guess I am home again!!!

We left Norwich at 0730 and headed A11, A505, A1, A414. A1 was not too bad. I was going to join the M25 but going over the top at the roundabout I looked down and it was at a standstill so we straight over the roundabout, down the M1, A41, in towards Watford, Bushey, Oxhey, Northwood, Ruislip and over the A40 to Uxbridge.

I’m glad I was stationed in Northwood which gave me the local knowledge. Arrived at friends house at 1035, including a stop for breakfast.

Into court at 12 having just found out the defendant that hit my vehicle wasnt going to turn up. Still had to give evidence and was winding his barrister up as she was putting the incident further round the roundabout. This would have meant that my OSF hit him, which she agreed happened. She wasnt so smug when I told her it was the NSF that was repaired!!

It goes without saying that I won. Including £50 in expenses for both me and the missus. Then a quick shoot off to Datchet Water for an afternoons sail with my trusty crew member.

Thanks again for your help. I also came back the same way as the M25 was blocked near the M10.
