Hello Boatchaser
The last time I saw Terry Sealey he was driving for Bacton Transport. I would be surprised if Jimmy hasn’t retired by now although a lot of you guys ignore the 65 barrier and carry on while we in factories and sites wuss out soon as we can. As for David - he was so quiet you forgot he was there. A pal of mine in the village Hughie Taylor has just packed up Agency work and he’s 72 and fitter than anybody 52.
I think there must have been changes at Jack Richards cos I see Scanias and Volvos in the orange and red now.
Hows about Cartco or Transam. When I was with Poddy the A11 was all Fitzmaurice carriers. Also Star transport, Danepack and Jeyes.
Hope that stirs a few more memories.
Jim
Hello Mandie, you probably knew the late Johnny Mace who was at Spinks many years ago or at least your dad would have done. Well here he is in his younger days at Atlas Works Lenwade. I don’t know who the boogie boy is though, you may recognise him!
Anyway Macey died just over a year ago and I met several of his old workmates from Spinks,Turners and NFT at the funeral. It’s shame that someone has to pass away to enable us old boys to get together for a natter and a drink! Cheers Haddy (ex Perfects Gt.Yarmouth)
In case anyone is interested, there are some lovely old films from the past on EAFA. Just type in “east anglia film archives” an it will come up. There is a massive choice of old newsreels but my favorite so far is one about the building of roads and bridges in Norwich. There’s a lot of plant and trucks from the past but the most interesting bit is ( to me anyway ) just before the end,the construction of the Magdalen St. fly-over.There are concrete beams being delivered by Pointers and Spinks and a plain white Volvo. I could be wrong but this motor may be Dawson’s of Bedfordshire.
There are of course many more, probably hundreds,of films to be seen on this site. Something for everyone! Cheers Haddy.

Hi Haddy, my dad (Barry Parker) used to drive for Spinks. My brother found this forum and the mention of Spinks. We were all reminiscing the other night about Spinks and AA Hales and the concrete beams he used to cart out of Lenwade. My brothers were his bogie boys. They found some pictures of his F89 he had with Hales on Euro wheels website. Is this the one?
No norfolktrucker that’s an F88, this is the F89! I think the photo came off e-bay. Cheers Haddy.

That was my dads lorry too. I remember going out with him in the F89 left hand drive. It was great to skive the odd day off school to go with him.
Thanks for that. I’ll show him that too. It’s great to reminisce with him as he’s having chemo at the moment for prostate cancer which has spread to his bones. It’s under control at the moment though. Myself and my brothers have so many memories from his driving days.
Wish him all the best for his fight with that ,the worst of all things!
Thanks for that. I will pass on your comments.

Yes that’s the one Bill, for the life of me I couldn’t think of that name. Theres one of theirs preserved and doing the rallies, I think it’s based in Suffolk. Are you keeping OK?
Here it is again! Probably heading back to Lenwade for another beam.
Crawfords from Holt also worked out of Lenwade.
That’s a lovely one of his F89. Where do you find all these pics?

Yeah, I thought it was an F88 too. The picture did come off ebay though.
Hello all
Did Asian Transport (ASTRANS) start off somewhere near Attleborough? For some reason I thought they did. Fridged Freight had one of their LB76 ridgids Reg. SVB 300F and it’s no wonder they sold it ,cos it used to overheat in Italy never mind Iraq etc. Jim
yes , you are correct in thinking that Jim, al those Vabis’s were prone to overheating thats why they got the nick-name of Sommer Scania in Scandinavia! there are a lot of pictures of them with the front grill removed which was the best way to run in the heat, Mick Chinn was hospitalised by the one he was driving (TVF) boing up goiing up mt blanc and he took the rad cap off only to be showered with boing water! a recovery job was needed fr him then not the lorry!
Thanks Bill
Hope you had a good Xmas and New Year. I remember the grill had been modified, but that didn,t work, so it was usually tied to the back of the cab.
All the best. Jim
