Hi Haddy,I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but Superior used to run to Woodhouse Mill on the A57,Sheffield, at night, sometimes up to four of those Commers, loaded with produce, back in the 60s.I can’t remember who shunted them into the markets though, the name escapes me.

Hi Chris, could it have been Ken Swallow? he finished up with a fleet of his own, all Mercedes I think.

A couple more oldies from Yarmouth.

Chris, did you know the Hughes brothers Brian and David? they were very friendly ( or related ) to Ken. They moved down here and were both owner drivers for Superior in the 60s.
Incidentally Ken’s son had some trucks for a while based near GY. He must have a good head on him as he is now a doctor. Cheers Haddy.

Hi Haddy.Sorry,I didn’t know them.I was in the RAF 1960-67 and at Feltwell 60-63 so got lifts in different wagons from K Lynn to Sheffield when thumbing home on leave or at weekends.Turners from Costessey Norwich,Rickwoods from Swaffham were quite regular, somebody from Guist and odd times Jack Richards. I never saw a Superior wagon down that end, plenty at the Sheffield end.

Yeah they’re still going fella. At least they were a couple of weeks ago. They have two or three FM’s, now white with red lettering iirc. Hopefully someone will fill-in the blanks for you!

Here’s a couple of Garnhams from way back. The Varbis is ex Fridged Freight and on its seccond life, I’m sure Bill ( LB76 ) won’t mind me putting it on here as the photo comes from his collection. The other one is a little more recent. Regards Haddy.
