I can only think it can be a smashing job :grimacing:

Taxi

on another note , you don’t hear that much about them, they never seem to be stressing out to get anywhere so probably a good little number.

That was terrible lol thanks

Somewhere on the forum is a thread about glass transport,it has a lot of info.
I worked for NZ for 10yrs but on the Dutch side.It was one of the best jobs i ever had,and the UK side was always considered very good.Mike

If there advertising (which is very rare) then I would say ‘jump at the chance’ , I knew that about 10 - 12 year ago you couldn’t get on with them as non of the drivers wanted to leave, they were that good of a company to work for, the ‘float liners’ a dead easy to use.

lappland life 207.jpgAnd you can take the truck home

There is a guy on here who works for them out of Warrington, I think he is called ‘Bigbird021’ or something like that, it has been quite awhile since he last posted, but I think if you have a chance of getting on for them I would go for it 110%. Sounds like a really good job. :sunglasses:

Dave Penn;

Dead mans shoes, if you get the offer rip their arm off.

I was talking to a couple of their drivers a few weeks ago in scania Haydock, they seemed happy enough, they where quiet at the time and said they where brushing the yard and glad to escape that
The fleet was old as they delayed the new fleet but they have dumped scania and I think they went to new mercs?.
Both the guys I spoke to had been there years, says a lot I reckon.

They were originally Pilkington drivers who were not impressed when Nico Nijman took them over. I worked for Zeetank which was the liquid tank side but if we were quiet they would give us a stillage or an innenlader to pull. I picked three new 3300 DAF up from Spijkenisse for them, that must have been 1985/6

They ain’t looking at the moment but I submitted all my stuff. I live 5 minutes away from the depot

Update. It’s took a while but looks like I’ve done it. Just had a phone call asking me to pop in on Monday for a driving assessment ( had interview on Tuesday). If all goes well I start Tuesday

Well done mate…what are the terms & hours etc?

I live about 300 yards from their yard in Washway Lane

PM me if you prefer…

You’ve done well there m8 usually they recruet from lads what are all ready doing the job. Wage isn’t the best hourly but they get a lot of guarantees eg if they do Ireland they might only do 7 hrs but due rented 15 hrs work is dead easy load up at factory tip and back empty gang get boring if your doing same job all the time. Floatline tsb are a piece of ■■■■ to use m8 give it a week or so to get used to them. If yiu need any info on glass job pm me no problam

Anyone know if they’re taking on…and what the pay is like

Have made inquiries. It’s £8.41 per hour!!! And they’re looking for drivers…good luck with that!! I’ll stay where I am.

Alright if you live on the doorstep maybe, given where Pilkingtons is located, and if the job has the forgiving features others have mentioned.

It’s worth noting that Pilkingtons has a history of being well-unionised, and it’s unlikely they are tolerating such low rates unless it’s made up in some other way.

Bloke I spoke to said the job has gone right downhill and lads are starting to leave.Quute disappointed, thought it was a good number.
