It could be I’m ■■■ about ■■■ though!

Low noise vehicle with appropriate entry in vehicle documents and “L” sticker on unit. Max. 60km/h on motorway over 7.5t. Radar EVERYWHERE.

Not worth the hassle. Get your head down

I didn’t know this till recently (so called professional driver) and last year did from the Hungarian border to Germany overnight three times. Didn’t have a problem, did get passed by a few police cars on two of the trips, but now I know doing it would worry me so I probably wouldn’t! To be fair did see plenty of trucks on the road though

I guess without being a ‘local’ its tough to gauge how hot they are on it - you could have been lucky or do it all the time an no one would care… Not worth the hassle of being stopped on your mind though!

Movement Restrictions
There are driving restrictions on public holidays and at weekends. The restrictions are Nationwide if the total weight of the vehicle and/or trailer exceeds 3.5 tonnes. The exceptions to this include combined transport operations within 65 kms of a transloading station.

Prohibitions are Saturday from 15.00 to 24.00 and Sundays and Public Holidays from 00.00 to 22.00.

Movement Exceptions include those vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes that are transporting milk and vehicles with an authorised total weight of more than 7.5 tonnes carrying a cargo of:-
-meat or livestock for slaughter (but not the transport of heavy livestock on motorways)
-perishable foodstuffs including fresh fruits and fresh vegetables, fresh milk and fresh dairy products, fresh meat and fresh meat products, fresh fish and fresh fish products, live fish, eggs, fresh mushrooms, fresh bakery products and fresh cakes and pastry, fresh herbs as potted plants or cut and ready-to-eat food preparations, as well as empty transports linked to the transports of the above mentioned goods or return journeys for carriage of transport facilities and wrapping of the above mentioned goods (a CMR needs to be carried onboard and presented in case of inspection) - (this does not include deep frozen goods)

The status of the load (amount) must be clearly documented at the start and during the transport movement. The exception is only valid if ONLY perishable goods (see above) are transported.

Boss (She) said go for it, cos the 5 pallets of oil were expected in venice docks 06.00 monday morning.
Went from Fussen in Germany down to Insbruck and over the Brenner Pass, saw 1 police car going the other way, just before motorway, but didn’t get stopped.
Waste of time really, cos it’s now tuesday and still haven’t tipped. Ho hum.

Delivery address in Maghera is correct, but the boat I’m after isn’t there !

Women bosses getting work off the internet . . . . . . . LOL

You are of course familiar with the rules regarding truck transit traffic over the Fernpass between Füssen and Innsbruck?

I’m not. Do tell!

Any truck on that road needs to be Euro 12, run on fairy juice and zero emissions, and the speed limit at night is 5.8kmh. It also has to play Mozart to cover up the sound of the engine.

Can you tell I hate driving in Austria, poxy country.

From 1st January 2010 vehicles over 7.5 t are banned from the B179 Fernpass Strasse between Nassereith and Vils in Austria.

Exceptions are for loading or unloading in the following areas:

Germany: The Landkreise Biberach, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Lindau, Oberallgäu, Ostallgäu, Ravensburg, Unterallgäu and Weilheim-Schongau. The towns of Kaufbeuren, Kempten and Memmingen.

Switzerland: The region of Samnaun.

Italy: The regions of Burggrafenamt and Vinschgau.

Stay warm over there, fella

Edit: And what Luke just said

Thanks for that Inselaffe, as we passed a plod car going the other way just before joining the motorway at Imst, can we expect a fine in the post ?
I promise not to go that way again your honour.
Pretty route to travel though, and very quiet at that time of the night !

Looks like you got away with it
The only problem would be if you’d been stopped and they had a gander through your paperwork to see where you were loading / tipping.

'Tis verily a pretty route but gets jammed up to buggery during the skiing season, especially at weekends.

So if that route is off limits, what way would/should someone go who’s transiting Austria from Germany to get to Italy? Down to Munchen and then in to Austria near Kufstein? About 80ish km more according to google maps.

Yup. Or via Bregenz
