FFS Will you two stop throwing you handbags at each other and help the OP with more targeted information relevant to his location. So he doesn’t have to drive 30-40 miles from his home to get a shift somewhere
I have helped him , I’ve saved him from a life of poverty on £11 ph at lp , assuming he takes my advice & not anjelises
So after a week of applying for jobs as a newly qualified C+E drive, I am yet to have any joy with agencies and have decided to apply to hauliers directly. Applied at Warrens, Great Bear, Culina Group etc and waiting back to hear from them.
Logistics people do not take on newly qualified C+E drivers without you having at least 6 months of experience for insurance purposes and this is now the same for logical recruitment agency and a few others I cannot remember the names of. When I quizzed a lad at logistics people today he said the insurance provider for the agency wants experience and it would be better to apply to companies directly and get the 6 months of experience and then come back to agencies. Not sure how true that is but so far I’ve had zero luck with agencies.
So I think it’s time to take a look at companies directly and go from there.
Typical backwards b/s from the Logistics People. This industries workforce is literally dying because of short sighted stupidity like this

I’m afraid it wasn’t just the Logistics People. I must have spoken to 3 agencies today whilst I was working who said the same. One even offered me an assessment appointment on Monday only to cancel it when I told them I was newly qualified. I’m not sure if it might be agencies that are just going in this general direction to keep their insurance premiums down.
It was the same for me when I passed well over 20 years ago. Was driving coach loads of people all over Europe on holiday but kept getting knocked back from truck driving jobs over and over despite any load on a lorry effectively being worthless compared to dozens of lives. Whatever anyone thinks of the driver shortage at various times the transport industry is simply getting exactly what it deserves.

Yes agency taked depend from situation, company demand. We had one planner in Rugby truckstop,he pass for Class 1 in UK.But now work full time at Great Bear.He said who Stobart was agree give full time but he don t want, small money. He was wanted go to Logistic people because money good. But LP refused,no experience. He now work full time for Great Bear but said whet get 6 month experience eill try back to Logistic people.
If any agency refuse you last week try sent him CV,call again after week or month. They one day want with 6 month experience, next day they accept drivers who pass 6 hour ago.Now I think second problem-quit month.Should after 1-2 month will be better.

I did feel bad yesterday as I was pulling a double decker on my first CE work thinking I know nothing, yet they won’t let you work with all your experience.
When I got back to the yard and the TM watched me trying to park it, asked me if it’s my first day? “We don’t take first timers” shame about that, the agency sent me and I’ve already done it, bye.
dozy:
, £11 ph is what his wage slip will say , it’s terrible , how’s he going to pay gas/electric going through roof , fuel ,
The same way you did when you were driving for Stobarts on 50p an hour above minimum wage. You’re the last person to dictate to someone they shouldn’t work for a low rate when you did it for years whilst arselicking and being a yes man being the only one to say yes to a run that would mean you didn’t get home on a Friday for a company that paid so crap they had to use a daily meal allowance to get your wages within a quid an hour of what everyone else was so STFU and let the OP make a decision himself.
I am a new pass and applied to all the major players in my area and have gotten a full time job with a local firm on a shift pattern that is great for me. (Continental 2,2,3)
A few offered me a job but were 4 on 4 off or Mon-Fri. I guess area matters a lot as Lincolnshire has a lot of opportunities.
I came from a Managerial role in the food industry. It is similar to 4 on 4 off in days worked throughout the year but is more spread out and resets on a two weekly basis and unlike 4 on 4 off you get every second weekend off. 2 days booked off in the right place gives you 1 week off.
Mon/Tuesday in (2), Wednesday/Thursday off (2), Fri/Sat/Sun in (3)
Mon/Tuesday off (2) Wednesday/Thursday off (2), Fri/Sat/Sun off (3)
Then resets back. Have been working it for years in my old job and have had no problem getting 12/13 hour days so far. Once I am more confident on my own I will look to tramp on the days when I am in.

Interesting (although I think you mean the 2nd wed/Thu are in, not off)
I’ve never come across it, sounds ok.
