Newly qualified driver C+E and cant get work!

samledger1212:
I’ve done ten years on van work could of got a other job doing that but don’t want to do that any more and spoke to a lot of the agencies and 7.5 tonne and class 2 work does not count to class 1 experience that’s what they have told me and I was on more money driving a van than they are offering on class 2 and not only that they want 6 months experience on class 2 work

When they are struggling to fill a booking they will soon put you in somewhere for class 1 work, if you can show them that you are a good worker/don’t smash anything they ask you to drive then all of a sudden experience becomes less of an issue and instead "Hey wait *** is class 1 fire him in there.

Previously I have been placed into contracts I got told would never take me due to experience but because I had been working on other contracts without issues I was given a chance to cover the last minute shifts, from there on those contracts usually requested me back to cover other shifts they needed drivers for as I simply went in done the job they asked me to and returned the trucks in same condition as I found them.

Ye I no what your saying pal but I can’t even get class 2 work and and.I don’t no how I’m going to get any were if no one will give me a shot I’ll get Xmas out the way and hopefully that place will take me on but if not ill go to every haulage company there is

Not only haulage companies that have / need drivers try some of them

Ye I no pal ment I’ll try every were but hopefully the job I’ve been about today will happen

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket pal, spread yourself far and wide mate!
Yes as a Newbie you will get offered the crap others have turned down, but when agencies/clients are desperate, you need to be in the frame to get that shot…

Keep trying pal, it WILL happen!!!

Ye I no pal been let down by every agencie all ready get Xmas out the way then I’ll be going every were

Radar you got the job yourself mate…I just told you they were taking on and I had done some agency work for them.

When is your next attempt at Class 1? It took me 2 goes…it’s character building!!! Good luck mate.

Some point next year. Doing it in a W+D.

I really hope you pass mate, as I’ll be looking forward to ripping you about doing it in a W+D! :grimacing:

Thunderbird2:
recently qualified as a C+E HGV driver fullfilling a long time life goal, spent £3500 on quality training, 30 years driving experience from Motor bikes to 7.5 tons! Driver shortage■■? all i see is must have min 1 years experience. How on earth do you get this experience if you cant get a job or at least a chance. The amount of tests and training to get this far and i just keep hitting a brick wall. have no idea what im doing wrong. all the agencys are no help at all. anyone got any ideas please■■?

You’ve wasted £3,500 of your hard earned cash, to then try and find a horrid job that pays roughly-minimum wage.

I advise you to look no further, in trying to be an HGV driver. Take no notice of all these brainless donkey’s on here.

Go and sit on your bum, behind a till in Sainsbury’s, where you’ll earn a similar rate of pay; whilst trying not to think about the wasted monies in your crud invested.

Good luck!

Good luck!

+1, there’s a lot of monkeys on here & you will need a lot of luck in this game!

Oh look Santa’s elves, or rather trolls have paid us a visit!

Santa’s trolls.

Merry Christmas x

Rip away, I’ll be driving the same stuff as you! :grimacing:

So why not grow a pair and take your test in an Artic?
Or will you be hunting out W+D jobs when you pass?

But at the end of the day, if you’re more comfortable and confident in a W+D, then I guess it’s probably for the best.
As they say, a pass is a pass! :grimacing:

However, I assumed you’d previously taken your test in an Artic, am I wrong in that assumption?
And if you have, why not continue with that, as to do W+D is learning something new again…

I can’t speak for you, but I’m on a good chunk more than shelf stackers wages…

Per week maybe per hour unlikely

Tell me where I can stack shelves for £13 an hour then mate? :open_mouth:
I admit that’s self employed and ADR, but I guess most shelf stackers are on zero hours contracts with no rights…
Even the non ADR drivers would be on £12 an hour with my agency at this firm, although they may struggle to keep working there, as we handle a lot of ADR. Hence I’ve only not had work for 2 days, and that has come this week, as we go quiet at Xmas, which is a bonus! :grimacing: So that’s Monday to Friday mate (no bank holidays), 7am start every day, and non of this irregular shift pattern stuff.
So find me a supermarket job to match that, and I’ll be there mate! :grimacing:

So in summary, SANCHEZ (V40LLY’s latest incarnation) is basically full of crap and an angry little boy because he can’t find himself a decent gig… I wonder why that is? Maybe he’s an idiot, and has an attitude that sticks! :unamused:

And so we are clear…
I know for a FACT that there are drivers on this forum that are on more than that, PAYE!!!
I won’t and can’t name them, as that is their business. But Newbies shouldn’t pay attention to the angry little failures on this forum that ■■■■■ and moan about the job being rubbish, as those morons are too stupid to look in the mirror and accept the job isn’t necessarily rubbish, they are!!! - It’s getting monotonous the amount of job’s PimpDaddy has apparently been knocked back on, and he can’t seem to grasp that he’s the issue… :unamused: So God only why he comes on this forum, as he now picks carrots for a living!

so while you have been sat at home for the last 2 days your agency have been paying you £13per hour because thats what your contract says,i would love to no your pay for Friday and Monday bank holidays
Sanchez does talk rubbish but he is right about the conditions drivers have to put up with and i don’t no if it’s because he can’t get a good job but then nether can you as your only on agency

What does your average shelf stacker earn while they are sat at home pal? :open_mouth:
And I’ve already said I don’t have to work bank holidays, and quite frankly, I don’t want too!

The question was about me earning more than a shelf stacker, and I think I’ve clearly shown I do! :grimacing:
Plus my job is what I’ve walked straight into as a Newbie, and I’ve currently got a couple of irons in the fire to move upwards.
But don’t ask what they are, as I won’t be posting those on here at the present, if ever!
