Hi all
I will be going to the eu for the first time soon and was wanting to know which is the best satnav for an artic that actually works over there. Tomtom?
Also any other information regarding the ins and outs of the regs driving in France, holland, Belgium, and Germany would also be much appreciated. I have read the topic on this at the top of the forum but am worried I won’t have something that I should and acquire a large fine.
i use a tom tom car one and its never let me down. Traveled in every country it has on it besides monaco and other tiny ones. Obv you have to use common sense as well but i cant fault it
I’m old school, mind you I’m gettin on a bit too .
I use Google Maps on my Smartphone to pinpoint a new (to me) delivery address. Then use that info to ‘spot’ the location on my ordinary paper map. Then I drive to the right area, navigating by map, and use Google Maps on my Smartphone to guide me for the last mile or so.
I get maps of roughly 150,000 to 200,000 scale, to give me a reasonable amount of detail to work with. I don’t need A to Zs of everywhere using my method. I can also usually retain enough info in my memory to get there the next time I go, although I’ve made mistakes more than once
Google Maps has an advantage. Sometimes there are several companies in the same building. Google Maps will list everyone at that address, which means you don’t have to try and spot one name in a list as you drive past, any one of the several will do.
I’ve never used a SatNav, so I’ve no idea if they do this.
Do they ?
has just bought a Garmin off ebay, the reason being is that they do free updates, oh and it was only 99p 3222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222u
use maps at 1st fella…you’ll learn the roads much better that way…sat navs are known as ■■■■ navs for a reason…ask directions its easy and you’ll pick up a bit of the lingo as you go…most of all don’t panic and enjoy it…good luck…cheers
