the parking fees have gone up!! £6.50 just to park or £9 with a £2.50 meal voucher! i can see how the msa
s get away with it… innacessability and all that nonsense they use… but town centre cattle market parking? its only £2 at uttoxeter! i was in newark on thursday night and the park was very quiet… been before and its always been chocka, own goal to newark council.
Is it an own goal or when it gets quiet will the council then say it is not being used so we will close it and develop the land? Cynical, me?
I have never parked at Newark, where is the meal voucher for?
£9 minus £6.50 equals £2.50?
£2.50 for a meal voucher
Why bother?

theres a cafe at the entrance cain. i
d guess the £9 with voucher is so the boss pays for your meal… i laughed at him and went for a chinese in the town

Ha!
I suppose it’s OK if your boss pays for it, but not much of an incentive otherwise!
Own goal to TRuro football club too.
Went to park there on Thursday night, parkiung was £9, no meal voucher and the club has stopped serving food
Me and another 2 drivers promptly turned round to Treleigh ind est at redruth.
200 yards to the treleigh arms where the food is absolutly top notch.
There is a good coach/lorry park in Redruth too.
Yes i agree £9 for a cattle market is over the top…and if your boss finds hes paying for a meal …he will only re-imburse the £6.50…the best i had was in Hereford…behind the football club…£1.50…very good value…and within easy walking distance of the town centre.although there is a bar on site…if the councils get greedy …they will be the losers…but depends how truckers treat the parks in the first place…they too could become the losers…
have a nice day
And another one bites the dust!
I called for my breakfast in Grays t’other morning, and they have closed off the main entrance. This is going to make parking very difficult in the dark. You can bet, that the next thing is, that it will be closed as the neighbours are complaining

Would that be ‘The Cabin’? Top notch grub in there.
Newark is ont of the most expensive towns in the UK for council tax only equalled to Mr, Bliar,s constituency of Sedgefield.
The council are a bunch of greedy ■■■■■■■■ spending our money on stupid ■■■■■■■ millenium statues etc etc, they are planning on building a leisure centre on the cattle market in the future, probably because all the poor farmers in their subsidised Merc,s and Bmw,s (sorry land) cant afford to sell their goods at the market because of inflated prices.
Go and park at Kelham hall there are no hgv restrictions there and theres a nice pub nearby.
jammy, is kelham the big place on the right as i approach from mansfield? do i just turn right at the entrance? and where do i park there pls?
Jb its the council headquarters park anywhere u like mate tell them its part of my extortionate council tax thats paying for you to park there.

Thats the one KW
It used to be a good spot, good grub, couple or 3 good pubs and a launderette. I have had several weekends there
i think someone has hit the nail on the head, they must be trying to price us out so they can conclude that the stop isn’t making money and should be closed down, a new cattle market can be built away from the town centre and in the middle of nowhere (similar to ross on wye and market harborough).
£6.50 is not a bad price to pay for parking really, i know that laybys are free but you don’t get much sleep in a layby and often wake up to find the borrowing fairies have called in the night and borrowed either your diesel or your load.
it’s £6 to park overnight at the cabin in grays and i’ve lost count of the amount of trucks i’ve seen in the morning with it’s curtains or tilt cover opened with a stanley blade, even drivers that have left the back doors open have had this done to them.
we should defy their logic and continue to use the lorry parks.
by refusing to use them over the price we will just be biting our noses off to spite our face.
once they close a lorry park it’s very rare they ever open it or another to replace it ever again, it happened in my local town, thursday night was renowned amongst drivers who all tried to get to long eaton, the council sold the lorry park to a development company to build a supermarket and promised a new site would be found for the lorries to park, they then decided to do a survey at night time to find out how many lorries were parking in the area, they must have done it on a friday or saturday night because they claimed that there was only 4 lorries parked in the area and so a new lorry park was not required, the town quickly went downhill, cafe’s closed, pubs started changing managers regularly and the thursday nights became just another ordinary night, no more disco’s or rock and roll nights, no more grab a granny etc.
while it’s there we should use it, the alternative is to lose it, forever.
its alright at newark with the night club at the top of the road you can go with your uniform on ( classy joint ) and thursday is grab a granny
