This is more of Gordon and Alistair selling off the family silver to survive an election. Why does Newark want another supermarket? There is already a superb one next door to the cattle market. There is Morrisons too in town and plenty of others in the vicinity.
If Tesco, Sainsbury and Asda are building more mega stores, they should follow the French example and provide good clean FREE parking areas for all vehicles, that means trucks. Councils should be compelled to make sure that there is suitable parking provided when they give planning permission for new warehouses and shopping centres. because with empty shelves they wont survive.
