Hi sorry to probably be the 63958th person to ask this.
But I’ve had my class one for 2 years, done mainly box fridge store deliveries so I went and paid for my ADR, trouble now is nowhere seems to want/advertise vacancies for new passes.
Anyone have any advice for what kind of places would risk it or advertise such things?
Thanks
Nearly everyone who wants a driver, wants an experienced one.
Some do like newer passes to train their own way, but not all.
Don’t be afraid to apply for any job you fancy because it specifies x years experience etc. If you fit all the other requirements you may be better than another with decades of bad driving/employment record!
If you say approx where you are, you may get a heads up of a likely employer. ,
Thanks for the response, I’m in Manchester quite a lot going on locally in the way of fuel I reckon
I’ve never worked fuel, but others here have.
Second hand info says it is not the excellent job it once was, but…none are!
Still, it does suit many who get on it, and others dislike the bizarre (but still legal) shifts some companies work.
Good luck anyway.
2 years new pass? see if you can get work hauling milk, water or least tasty of all - sewage tankers with your class 1. Obviously not ADR, but I know albeit down sooth Blue Arrow had loads of milk tanker jobs going. Few months of that proves you can drive a tanker without tipping over, then try for a suicide jockey job. Same agency - blue arrow - state 2 years experience for fuel jobs. (no, I’ve never worked for Blue arrow)
2 years class 1, new pass adr…I imagined the experience of tankers would still be needed despite it only being milk wheat or whatever since you have to hose it out into whatever it’s moving into.
Anyway I’ll have a look around for non adr see what comes up.
Thanks for your suggestions
Are there any overnight pallet hubs near to you that use the HazChem network to haul ADR goods on night or day shifts?
How about the small and big airports,do they need any aircraft refuellers?
He didn’t specify it was adr tanks, if it’s packages then Freightroute take on new passes
Airport work is VERY difficult to get on (VERY). It was a top money job and opportunities we few and far between. To Mr s_ellison I would say apply for any and all openings that you see advertised, you just might get lucky…the very worst the advertisers can do is say Sorry, No.
