Why would a farm shop not be for the average motorist?! Bit of a strange viewpoint. Gloucester and Tebay are the only places on motorway network where Iām happy to spend money and even sit down to proper meals now and again.

Prime location for making money
Guess so but itās going be Westmoorland tebay style farm shop etc.
So doubt be that many hgv parking spaces there. Be mostly aimed towards car drivers I reckon
Needs to come with plenty of HGV parking really. Heywood has yet to be replaced with anything, Birch Services is all you have got after Lymm and thatās battered every night. One of the biggest industrial areas in Europe at Trafford Park and nowt.
Lets be honest, it wonāt though. And what is there will be clogged up with trucks waiting for loads out of the Amazon.

Local hand cut crisps , free range quail eggs and organic elderflower sparkling water isnāt what your average driver is wanting after 12 hrs behind the wheel , I get mass produced chilled over priced sandwiches and usual offerings from Ginsters isnāt the answer either .
Personally I think reasonably priced well cooked honest homely food is the way forward like what some of the smaller independent truck stops are offering.
Luke now you have hung your keys up and settled in to your teaching role your tastebuds have now evolved to the point where couscous and granola is now palatable

I pop onto Gloucester Services every now and then on my way back from Avonmouth or Plymouth.
Seems to cater for middle class familys on there way to & from there holiday cottages & pony clubs. Very little truck facilities.
Looking at the location itās right in the middle of the Cheshire Footballer belt.
Just before Manchester Airport.
Will end up being a āstaging groundā for the airport with people parked up waiting for an incoming flight to landā¦

When I started driving for a living, 60 years ago, egg, bacon, tomatoes and a fried slice for breakfast and sausage, egg, chips and beans for dinner was the extent of my culinary ambition. Sadly, many drivers are still of the same mind. I imagine that these are the same people who, when in other countries, look for the āEnglish pubā and fish and chip shop.
There are many posts on this forum complaining about the quality of motorway service food and most are justified. We need to raise our ambitions guys. There is good quality food out there, but you have to pay for it.
