to this forum anyway. i start my class 1 refresher training on monday. i have a class 1 licence so Exel have basically given me the choice of using it (even though they asked for a class 2 driver) or leaving them. blackmail will get them nowhere. i will do the training, get the extra pay for the next 11 weeks then turn their job down. i do actually enjoy it but i wont be exploited, insulted or taken for an idiot. my newly refreshed class 1 experience will be to the benefit of someone else from July/August

so why not just do the training and enjoy the job if you like doing it  :unamused: :unamused:

or if you really dont need the refresher what about giving it to someone who does…and who may be happy working there?

Scanny, ideally do you want to drive class 1 or class 2? If it’s class 2 you’d surely be better off leaving ASAP as Exel don’t have a position for you, if you don’t mind class 1 work (you mentioned you quite enjoyed it) then why not stay after the refresher course? I know they offered class 2 work then told you it wasn’t available and are now effectively blackmailing you, but if the job itself is decent then you’d be better off staying as opposed to looking for another job which might be no better.

i do want to get back on the class 1 but i dont like the way they have blackmailled me into it. the class 1 work is easier but surely it would make more sense to let me get accustomed to their equipment/paperwork etc before throwing this at me too?
there is no difference in pay between class 1/2 with them but i will get paid more from the agency while i am still on the temp 2 perm. in the meantime, i can look around for class 1 work. if nothing sounds worth looking at, i can stay with the agency but doing class 1 or 2 at a decent pay. i will lose quite a bit if i leave the agency for Exel. i am on £8.50 p/h on a class 2 and class 1 is even more. its a big drop from that to £7.34 p/h :open_mouth:

if worst comes to worst, i still have a job offer with Hildon. at least now i can say i am a class 1 driver instead. or i will be able to at the end of this temp 2 perm period

I thought you was already a class1 driver  .Why stay in a job that your not going to take at the end of the training period  You are preventing someone else from getting their foot in the door, and that person might be more grateful than you. What if at the end of the training period you tell Exel that your leaving, and they decide to with hold you wages ( for the cost of training you) What will you do then  Personnelly i think your wrong in what your doing, and i think that if you want company’s to take your training proposal’s seriously, then you need to start acting a little more seriously yourself m8.You have another job to go to,so why not do the right thing and leave Exel and give someone else the chance that might need it more than you, instead of trying to get one over the company. You will come off 2nd best scanny m8,trust me.Please do the right thing scanny, give the job to someone else.

as i see it he’s using the company/agancy in exactly the same way they’d treat any driver! i’d do eactly the same, take whats going and then do what ever suits me.

they started it mate. i applied for a class 2 job and they have blackmailled me into doing a class 1 job for the same money. i do hold a class 1 licence but at the end of the day, they asked for a class 2 driver and that is what i gave them. now i am no good to them because i have a class 1 licence? what is that all about? :imp:

as far as the training project goes, i have a better idea anyway with more resources and logically, it should receive a lot of support
