Still the same, the Heathergill and Crawford arms are both operating for overnighters the Merlindale cafe however has gone.
It is a good idea having a truckstop close to supermarkets for obvious reasons
I like parking at Carlisle for that reason plenty of other shops and a pub and whatever handy if you’ve been in laybys for a few night’s
Tesco pulling out of the US?
Now, back here they’re going to try and move into Truckstops/ MSA’s…?
‘Testing the water’ there maybe?
It’s not Tesco who want to build the new truck stop. It’s the man who owns Pattersons quarries.

You can still see the old Europa truck stop on google street view.
I used to like stopping just down the old a74 at the bp garage were you parked across the road.Home cooked food all fresh and a quiet kip,and a drink in the pub next door if you fancied one, happy days.
regards dave.
patterson quarries built the concrete pad across from tesco.he never applied for permission! work stopped for now. tesco applied to build behind the supermarket, there is a access road built to the field allready when built.supposed to have truck wash, car wash, fuel facility and restraunt. believe patterson wants to park his own wagons there when built.

Was that the Old Star Truckstop? An old clapboard place? There would have been a time when it was a new clapboard place, obviously
The Old Star Pub was a mile or so down the road.
The Star Truckstop was renamed Europa round about when the Old Star closed down in the mid 90s.
