New green card entry to the USA from UK

  • I am guessing this is a scam* but thought I would see if anyone here knew anything about it.

I have an e-mail ( and they want to advertise on T/N) that claims that the USA is proposing a relaxation on the rules of immigration (green card/unskilled work permit) for the UK from ex UK military service personell who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan… despite long and extensive google searches I cant find anything official - as yet the question hasn’t been answered by the US embassy.
Has anyone heard of this or is this a new reincarnation of the immigration brokers scam of a few years ago- that took a few $100 but unfortunately no-one got a card/permit as none fitted the criteria?

Any info much appreciated

Hi Rikki- UK,
I would check the USCIS and the INS websites for any info as they would have the correct gen.

Hi from Oklahoma.

The relaxation was for foreign nationals to serve in the US military and get fast track to citizenship.
I know a couple of Mexicans who are doing so. The green card lottery is also being revised and the Immigration Reform being touted as the overhaul for 2013 has been abandoned to 2014 or later.

Visit the US GOV for latest immigration quotas and UK limits and status.

all the best on you en-devours. BTW…It’s not as easy over here as you might think and get ready for the culture shock come 4 to 12 months later. Most folk go ‘home’ after the first two years. I’ve been here 30 years and still feel English.

Unfortunately the link you provide is one of the companies that charge people for filling in forms that most people can easily do themselves and/or make false promises about getting a green card or citizenship.

On their home page it states US-Immigration.com is a private entity and is not affiliated with the U.S. Government.

Use the official free (submission fee excepted!)site for the correct information - uscis.gov/

PW.

It’s just a scam as usual, they will take money from you to process your application then tell you you do not qualify. The green card lottery does not include citizens of the UK and never has. Don’t be taken in and advise all to ignore it or be prepared to loose there money.

Green cards are only issued to people with highly skilled positions (not truck driving) or those married to USC’s and are not a ‘Fast track’ to US citizenship, after 14 years I know this for a fact.

To Pat…I agree its not “fast tracked” my wrong choice of wording, it should have read that your application , if married to an American for 3yrs, is given a higher priority than the other applicants. Also after reading on here and TheTruckReport forums, didn,t quite realize what you truckers have to do. Much respect to you all, so glad I gave it up back in 92.

Merry Christmas Ray

It sounds like a scam

As far as I know you can never be a US citizen if you have served in a ‘foreign’ military?

Not so Mark… The head of security in the twin towers was ex Royal army, then moved to the USA and became a citizen then joined the US army before taking the World trade center job… Rick somebody ?
I also knew another British (ex Royal navy) who moved to Maryland and became a USC.

Oh well that’s me told then

Evening All, it was Rick Rescoria who predicted the WTC attack by air, also newmercman I have served in the RAF and now a US citizen

Now I think about it, the Russians in the USA (of which there are many) will all have done national service back in the USSR, same applies to the Jews, they all go back and do their two years in Mossad or whatever they call it, so I got that one wrong big time

ok newmercman back to only fools and horses you go

WTF is the Royal army■■?

It was the ‘Royal Army’ when I still lived in the UK, I supposed it would still be that. Just as Royal Navy and Royal Airforce FFS.

Sorry Pat, its not the Royal Army as the army in centuries past have turned on the monarchy and deposed them, and their Majesties have long memories    :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

British Army does not include Royal in its title because, after a historic struggle between Parliament and monarchy, the British Army has always been answerable to Parliament and the British people rather than the Monarch
