New Class 1 Driver, seeking job around Colchester

Hello Everyone,

I’ve just passed my Theory(96/100), Hazard Perception(90/100), and CPC Module 2(48/50) tests. I will have my on/off-road test and CPC module 4 test the first week of November. I have planned to relocate to Colchester. I’m looking for jobs (tramper preferred) around Colchester, Ipswich, Felixstowe, Harwich, etc.

I’m going to travel to Colchester with my family for Halloween week to visit our friends there. How do you think I should send my CV and cover letter to potential employers or agencies before I get my full Class 1 licence? Would they be interested in arranging a chat with me next week?

I worked for the private sector for over 8 years in the supply chain, purchasing, and data analysis jobs. Now feel tired of sitting in the office, and wanna a different way of life and work. My daughter has been well with her primary school life and her mum looking after her well, so I have nothing to worry about for them.

Appreciate any suggestion or advice.
Thanks,
L

Drive slowly around the roundabouts near the dock entrances at Felixstowe theres usually notices pinned on fences with phone numbers for drivers wanted. Heading towards the seafront theres a newish truck park/burger van set up id ask around in there too

Thx mate, I can see some ads on fences at gate 2 roundabout in Google Street Maps, the company name appears on indeed.com as well, lol. There would be something else at the McDonalds’ roundabout as you mentioned, it’s better to hold my paper CV and then give a call when I’m there. Cheers

the adverts change pretty often.Actually if you head on the road into the dock just before the security gate hang a left down there several truck firms have their offices outside the dock fence at very least stop in and see if you can have a word with the guvnor

I think I got the road you mean, I have an advert in my list from one of the companies on the road.
Do you have any other ideas or rules, I shall remember or to avoid when seeking opportunities at Felixstowe?

the road im on about is at/ off the Mcdonalds roundabout .As i say drive very slowly around otherwise you will easily miss numbers written on fences . That truck park/food van is ran by one of the truck firms defo talk to folk there /in the yards rather than just phoning . Id say spend a good 2 hours in Fstowe truck area park up at Mcd and walk between the 2 roundabouts . Dont just spend 20 mins and quit , make it 2 hrs minimum .Same at Harwich dont rush to get away or you might miss chatting to somebody .Theres a fellow runs a truck wash hes around near that truck park [between Mcd and seafront ]seek him out for a word too Take a scribble pad too

Much appreciated for this precious information and help. I totally agree that I should try my best to meet who can decide to put a new crew into their fleet. Thanks again.
