New Border Control EU

Interesting to see how this will work out

Two Thirds of UK Adults unaware of new EU digital border launch later in year

New Co-op research shows almost two thirds of UK adults unaware of new EU Entry/Exit System (EES) scheduled to launch later this year

Over 1 in 5 UK adults admit they would be ‘put off’ travelling to Europe as a result of the new system, which requires fingerprints and facial scans to be taken from UK travellers on first use

With over a quarter of holidaymakers citing ‘getting through security’ as most stressful part of travelling, Co-op Insurance is encouraging travellers to familiarise themselves with the new rules ahead of planned October launch

nothing new… if you fly anywhere finger prints and facial scans are done. most people have gone further than france sounds like more remoaner rubbish trying to scare the gullible

what would be interesting is if they do it for all the scum coming into england somehow im guessing it wont be

Where are you flying to that they are taking your fingerprints
Never experienced it myself, the facial scan you understand cameras everywhere so no choice
How does the fingerprint thing work

Fingerprints are taken on entry and exit to / from USA. Prints of first two digits are taken on an electronic screen and stored to match up on exit.

Used to do the same in Singapore but since the introduction of the new electronic entry visa and landing card system they seem to have stopped.
A lot of countries are starting an electronic “ESTA” scheme, whereby entry docs have to be applied for online prior to travel. Usually means downloading passport details into their systems.
Not sure if the new European scheme will work in a similar fashion.

Gateshead

out of this country was thailand. but went to vietnam cambodia laos and borneo. They all do it you place your passport on this scanner and then look into the camera its supposed to use ai to check its you. Im sure i had it at heathrow on the way out as well but it was 18 months ago

Thanks for that, i also found this

Travellers will need to scan their passports or other travel document at a self-service kiosk each time they cross an EU external border. It will not apply to legal residents or those with long stay visas.

The system will register the traveller’s name, biometric data, and the date and place of entry and exit. Facial scans and fingerprint data will be retained for three years after each trip.

Looks like the type of travel controls that East Germany’s residents would have been used to.Exemptions obviously apply for invading ‘asylum seekers’.
