Need some help with a Ford D Series

Currently I’m removing the rear leaf spring but got stuck on how to remove the pin towards the front. It’s supposed to go outward right?

Im beginning to hear the gas genie sing

It is a very long time since doing one of those but IIRC think there is a hole in the chassis to put a drift in and yes hammer from there outwards.

That pin is threaded so it can be pulled out. A slide hammer won’t do it after all these years but a made-up puller will. There will be a hole in the chassis in line with the pin. Measure it to see if the pin can be knocked inwards through it.

Hmm yeah, the rust has it’s grip of the pin alright. Hammer time!

If the hanger is bolted on, you could remove it & deal with it unmercifully.

I don’t know what it’s called but if I guessing what you mean it is riveted to the frame so I have to do it in place which makes it a bit harder if I can’t come up with something else. I have no hydraulic tools and I have no torch.

For years I’ve had half a dozen of the special fitted bolts Ford sold to replace the rivets. I started a massive clear out of my garage on Monday and these went in the skip on Wednesday along with two half kingpin kits and several oil seals.

Totally irrelevant to the thread but a D Series as come up for sale in Bradford a couple of weeks ago i think it was a 12 tonner

The disposed item always has a use once gone, irrespective of how many years it had been sat on the shelf gathering dust.

See this is an old thread but did you get the engine started?

No, not yet. I have some things to sort out before attempting to starting it. It was a pain to get it into the “garage” and I want to be able to drive it in rather than pushing it in. But this summer it will be running.
